"I really think the NCAA didn't know me as a person," said the 6-foot, 215-pounder from Wichita, Kan., of the two-page letter he typed. "They heard stuff, some stuff good and some stuff bad. But I feel like with the letter, they got to know me on a personal level and what I'm about. I didn't tell any lies. I didn't try to make myself sound good. I just wrote it to try to show who Bryce Brown really is.
"I think that helped out a lot, but I think more importantly God takes all the credit. And then coach (Lane) Kiffin and all the coaches having my back, coach (Eddie) Gran, coach (Frank) Wilson, coach (Ed) Orgeron, Brad (Bertani). They all did an excellent job. The credit all goes to them. I wrote the letter, but they did far more than the letter."
