Bryce Brown Gone

pretty sure every athletic scholarship is a 1yr renewable (no matter the school)

This is UT's problem. You will NEVER be a 10-win consistent program. It's not even your fault because the facilities, resources and history are there. But TN, as in the state, is not a hotbed of football talent. That coupled with scholarship limitations and more and more football programs cropping up hurts more and more.

Back to the thread, I was looking forward to seeing BB as the lead guy in Knoxville this year.

I agree with your list of disadvantages but not your conclusion. UT M-U-S-T tie into GA and SC the way OU has historically tied into Texas. Those areas are geographically convenient and open to UT recruiting. It isn't as easy but it is quite possible to have a dominant program at UT.

I got roundly criticized but if I were Dooley I would only selectively recruit FL. There are just as many blue chips in SC-GA plus UT has a better shot at them. I'd have 4 guys working from Greensboro to Columbus, GA then spread the others out over the SE and Texas.

BTW, Brown would be swallowed up in USC's depth chart. IF CLK isn't/doesn't recruit him then you will have Kiffin's opinion on his ability.

I hope you are being facetious but in case you are not...

What exactly do you think would be fixed by Dooley telling you something? Would it make Brown stay? Would it make UT's OL better?

If the guy were lazy, he wouldn't have survived even at La Tech much less LSU or the NFL. So assuming he is not lazy, what is the better use of his time telling you something or counseling with Bryce Brown about his future? Telling you something or talking on the phone with recruits for an hour? Telling you something or studying film so he can coach up UT's young talent?

If you want to blame someone right now for the program taking a step back, send your letters to: Sports Editor, LA Times.

+1...very nice

Yes he is...for now. If Dooley doesn't pan out, he is out so fast his head will spin. His seat is getting hotter and hotter as each week passes...

Are you speaking of Hamilton? If so, yes I agree. If you speak of Dooley, I disagree. The man has yet coach a single game yet.

TigerTowner's post(which I quoted/replied to) asked whether MH was still our AD. It would be completely asinine to say CDD is on the hot seat after only his first practice...even though that is the stance some on here seem to be taking.

Doubt that.

Doubt what? Which 5* Jr would Brown pass up at USC to become #3 on the depth chart based on his performance last year?

Or did you mean that Kiffin's opinion after coaching BB would not reveal what he really thinks of him?

Oh, USC also signed two 4* RB's and a 5* this year. As I said, if BB sits out a year at USC... he'll be buried.

who cares if bryce brown is gone. i don't think it is a big loss. from what i seen last year granted was his freshman year still not going to hurt us!!!!!!!!:)

I think the Vols are losing a talented player with extremely high potential, but the fact that we have Poole, Williams, Neal, and Oku, makes me rest easy about this. Brown may have more potential but from the few carries that Poole got last year he seemed to hit the whole harder and with more authority, and he looked to have a great forward lean

It isn't just Brown. I don't know why any RB would go to USC right now... but they keep going.

So you acknowledge one Fr and 3 Jr's, right? That makes him 5th string... the very definition of being "buried".

I acknowledge them and say that He will pass them all on the depth chart except maybe Marc Tyler.

Well...................................................................bye.
That is a classic "Tombstone" DERELICK_MY_VOLS type farewell to Mr. Brown....next please.

I didn't see a thing that Brown did last year that suggests he'd be higher than 3rd on USC's depth chart.

You'll know that Kiffin agrees if he doesn't try to talk him into going to USC.

They were saying on the radio a little while ago that someone close to the situation said there is better then a 50/50 chance that Brown stays and not to be shocked if he does.

Wish him the best whatever he decides to do.. Probably going through a lot of **** right now, but hey, at least he has grown men who I'm sure have his best interested in mind making his decision for him

What exactly have any of the backs out there shown? McKnight is gone, Johnson is gone, and Bradford is gone. Gable will likely start or get the bulk of the carries then he's gone and the guys behind him have shown way less than Brown has.
