Bryce Brown Fumbling Problems?

I think he will be fine. I read too that McCoy was not supposed to ring his bell. nor was the other fellow. It was their way of welcoming him to the SEC. I was encouraged by Kiffin's remark not a lot of guy pop up after a hit like that.

He's not in Kansas anymore. They said you could hear the hit all over campus!

In BB's defense...Lathers is a highly underrated player who's going to be All-SEC at least once before he's gone...mark it down...

Regardless...Lathers isn't the only All-SEC caliber player Brown will ever get hit by...as a matter of fact he's going to get drilled by that type of player several times a game for his entire career at UT...

But I believe this is just an adjustment period for him...he certainly has the physical talent to be special...

Now...just like any other freshman...he has to adjust to the speed of the game in the minor leagues of the NFL...otherwise known as the SEC

The hit was the football equivalent of smacking a newly delivered baby's ass while hanging it upside down, to make it breathe.

Very astute observation 3 days into practice. Yes it is going to be a problem. He never had the problem in high school but then again it was Kansas. He was not anticipating the speed, quickness, and strength of SEC LB’s and is now second guessing his decision. I have sources that say he is unhappy and wants to transfer to a Big 12 program where they play no defense.
Just watch this and here's how ya get to Kansas :eek:lol: "Welcome to big time college football" :shades:

I'm not worried about it. After all, he is a freshman regardless of how many stars he has after his name. It's all part of the learning process, and I'm sure he will learn really quick. I think it's good that they are hitting him this way now so that he will be more prepared when the season starts, and will know how he has to hold on to the ball.
He'll be fine!!

as did Arian and that didnt work quite so well

So did Tiki Barber.

You know the difference in between them? Barber, Peterson and (should be) Brown can take a 5 yard break and turn it into a 60 yard TD.

Foster can't. The others have huge pluses that offset their fumbling problems.

He carried the ball very loose in high school, because he could. Can't do that in the SEC though. He'll learn that really soon.

It's better that he's fumbling now in practice than in the games later and not learning about ball security until then. If Fulmer was still the coach, you can bet he wouldn't learn to carry the ball high and tight until it's too late, due to soft practices.

if Fulmer was still coach, he wouldn't see the field until October, so he wouldn't have gotten the problem corrected until Halloween...

I can already tell, when BB farts people are going to question the smell.

"I worried cause his fart doesn't smell bad enough. Is that because of the corn in Kansas?"

A little bit of info to make the skeptics feel better. Trent Richardson, the #2 ranked RB of last years class (#1 if you believe what ESPN says), fumbled the ball on a hand off in his first practice at Alabama. I guess he and BB are both doomed to careers marked by the same ball security problems that plagued Arian Foster.

I watched Wed. practice highlights on utsports.com and Kiffin said that Bryce put the ball on the ground twice. I realize its the first time he has been hit by a real SEC LB (Rico) but is this going to become a problem for such a highly recruited RB.

These kids are diamonds in the rough when we get them. It's the coaching staff's job to get them ready to play on Saturday. Give Brown some time to adjust... He's getting hit harder than he's been hit in his life right now. Let the coaches do their thing.

Its absolutely amazing that people can be worried about true freshman players making mistakes, when they are only FOUR FREAKIN PRACTICES into their career.
