I hope and believe with others here that this will all be fine eventually.
I also hope that potential recruits out there learn to stay away from these slimeball pseudo-advisors who are only looking to line their own pockets!

I'll have to admit that I did not like Butler at all during the recruitment of BB (charging for info on PP), but after hearing his interview today my sense is that he really cares about BB and did not do anything whatsoever that would jeoporadize BB eligibilty or violated any NCAA rule. He was very complementary of UT and Kiffin. I guess as situations change so do perceptions, but I genuinely feel he's a decent guy.
I agree to an extent.....but I still can't get past the fact that this guy was trying his hardest to make a profit off of a 17 year old kid. Had he not been a "handler" / "mentor" / whatever, and tried to make some money off of BB, then I seriously doubt the NCAA would looks so hard at this whole situation.
Just my opinion.
There's an entire multimillion-dollar recruiting industry based around making profits off of 17 year old kids. Why is what this guy was doing so much more reprehensible than what Jamie Newberg does?
What is garbage is that Chris Low is reporting this as "Tennessee is in trouble again"...
ESPN says NCAA says he can play during investigation, so that's good.
If the NCAA is allowing him to play during the investigation that tells me that nothing will come of this in regards to BB's eligibility.
If the NCAA had anything at all on Brown then he would not be allowed to take the field and would redshirt this season during the investigation.
The NY Times wrote a lengthy article about Bryce Brown and Butler, his "handler", back when UT was recruiting Bryce and others like Miami were backing off. The NCAA was already looking into Butler's activities to some extent way back then.Would anyone like to lay odds on who brought this to the NCAA's attention?
Tom Abraham just said he was told from one of his most reliable sources that this should be over by tomorrow and Brown would be cleared to play.
At the most, Brown would repay the money and sit out a couple games, jmo. It is also my opinion that the NCAA may have been tipped to something bigger involving either Brown/Butler or UT and this gives them legitimate reasons to kick over stones and see if they find anything.
Bryce is going to be one motivated son of a gun when this is all said and done. He sounds like a great kid and his name has been slung through the mud. Thanks to all for making the chip on his shoulder a lot bigger.
