Bryce Brown facing eligibilty issues

Huge distraction for BB. Looks like form the research of you guys and the story out of Kansas he should be fine. Just sucks because all the rival fans are now going to be starting all kinds of crap and not even know what the deal is.
I can see some Florida douche calling his buddies right now and telling everybody, while in jorts, he heard BB is never going to see the field in college because he took money.

How long does the NCAA drag this out, assuming the report that Bown is not really who they are going after, and Butler is?

The way the NCAA moves on some things, it could still be a mess wks from now, even if nothing comes from it.

Yeah I think that's why CLK was so pissed about it because he said they can take as long as they want.

This is a prime example of what I absolutely love about Bob Knight. Ever hear him talk about NCAA? He hates them with a passion. You may know the story about him, but I'll repeat because of this b.s. we're getting on Brown. Knight walks in to a presser or speech and grabs the local phone book. Drops it on the ground ''ka boom''. Then, grabs the NCAA manual and drops it "KA BOOOOOMMM" Says something like see that, that's the NCAA manual, it will be amended at least 3 times before the day's over. Then holds up a piece of paper "See this. U.S. Constitution. It's been amended a handful of times in more than 200 years. Served us pretty damn well." Classic stuff and I can just picture the NCAA pencil head studying the by-laws, rather than just kicking back and saying "Ah hell, the kid was 16" and throwing it away.

Never heard that story. Thanks for posting it. Very true. When school's have to have entire departments dedicated to back checking every little fact, word, mention, or blurb... you know you have a problem.

Might be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway ...

If the NCAA drags their feet in this investigation and Brown doesn't see the field this year but he's cleared in the end before next season would he get this year of elgibility back? If not, then might Kiffin redshirt him to save this year?

Is this the stuff soap operas are made of or what?

Does this not happen at every school and all the top recruites nationaly? Its a freakin fund raiser to help those attain a degree that they would never have a shot at. Its not a BB thing, it is everywhere. This is a non issue as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly. This is the first salvo in their battle to keep guys like Butler from gaining the type of influence in college football that the Sonny Vaccaros have long held in hoops.

Whats your opinion on what will happen, if anything?

I hate to say but the players would benefit from becoming a union and walking away from the NCAA till they get better treatment.

Ultimately there is no football without the players.

I'm always reticent, from personal experience, to assume the 'AA will act in a rational manner. However, absent something far more substantial than what has been reported being uncovered, they can't do anything to Brown.

I agree, about all they could do is run Butler away from these HS kids coming up, I guess.

As a gator fan I hope the best for the kid. Why would the NCAA investigate something that happened two years ago? Makes no sense to me. Go Gators!
