All I know is that VSPN claimed he was going to interview Brown AFTER his decision on a UT station. This sounds like a done deal

It's a good idea, but people would freak over it. They would whine b/c they had to do something different from their peers.

I know this, the COs don't know how to deal with it b/c most of the players don't know it's against the rules and neither do most of the fans.

I personally think they should just make it clear to the prospects that if they engage in anything more than receiving messages, they endanger themselves. You just can't control all the fans, and you can't really tell a recruit who they really are or aren't friends with.

Bryce basically posted on his FB that he was divorcing Lacey after David Oku posted a picture of he and Lacey on his FB. It was a joke between David and Bryce.

He and Lacey had just joked about being married. That's all there was to it.

If they can't be controlled then they should just ban them from it. I mean, it's not smart to engage in something that they and most fans don't understand and the consequences that can come from it. It just doesn't make sense to risk your scholarship over something like having FB or MS.

Oh, I know that, but my point is that the NCAA could interpret possible other things in a situation like that even though it was all innocent.

You can't place restrictions on a recruit like that. Restrictions are placed on the institution and it's boosters. Not on recruits. You can't tell them they can't have a FB page.

Yeah it would, but so is not allowing a recruit to transfer from a program that goes under a major coaching change and offensive/defensive philosophy and play that same year.

For that to happen, they are going to have to pull someone's eligibility for this type of thing. I wouldn't want to be them trying to do that for the first time. They would be getting into all kinds of constitutional rights stuff with that one.

The way the rule is written, there is wiggle room on who can talk to a recruit and cause a violation. There's just no way for them to do what you are talking about. Honestly, I think you have a good idea, but when you start trying to tell kids who they can and can't be friends with, you are on a slippery slope. The NCAA knows that.

If all of your friends are on the internet, then you may have more problems that we know. :)

Seriously though, they need to get a handle on this before some creep does something stupid because a recruit doesn't go to there school.

Gotta remember Eric, these kids now have had Myspace and FB all their lives, or at least as long as they can remember. Most of them have ALL their friends from school on there. Not to mention almost ALL these elite kids that camp together add each other and communicate through it.

There is a legitimate concern, but I think this is a case where something is going to have to happen before the NCAA has any grounds to move, IF they ever do.
