Bryce Brown (CLOSED)

At the end of the day you (and I...) gotta bear in mind that BB is only 17 or so years old. The LSU visit concerns me in that if it is, in fact his last visit then it will be his last impression before he commits. I hope he does wait until the 16th because it will give him time to let the emotions die down and make a decision based on what's really in his best interests as a player. I hope that decision making rocess leads him to Knoxville, but if it doesen't I think UT will be OK. We could sure use a guy with his talent but if it isn't him in 2009 it'll most assuredly be somebody else in 2010.

''It has gotten to the point where this whole thing should have been avoided and could have been avoided,'' Arthur Brown Sr. said late Monday morning. "If we could do it all over again there are a lot of things we should have and would have done differently. For Bryce, I'd say regardless of how you express the need to make additional visits, if that's your plan, then don't commit. Don't commit. Also, you should keep a very frequent communication with the coaches -- Coach Shannon and the other coaches.

"If you have that time constraint, then keep in mind that they [the coaches] have time constraints, too, and you should be sensitive to that.''

This quote from his dad in the article above says a lot, imo. His dad seems like a stand up guy and I bet Bryce is too. This whole LSU thing seems to be driven by his brother's interests. Is this coming down to a family decision for both?

If so, should we have an Arthur Brown Jr '09 LB thread?

If his last official visit is gonna be next week, and there isn't gonna be a visit to miami the week after, does this mean his announcement could come a week earlier? I know he wanted to do some weird meditation (at least i think so haha) but with one less week he could start earlier. Watcha guys think?:dunno:

Signs at the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame on March 16. Unlikely it will change. Hopefully it will be his last dance with Bulter when he comes to Tennessee.

Really think he is already signed or committed. USC and Miami backing off, dad's increased involvement and Oku's delay tells me we are in it to the end. High marks on Tennessee and Kiffin's staff and ability to recruit.

Add the hostess on facebook and its painful to think that someone would send these types of signals without committing to us is absurd.

Pops is getting into the game a little late, isn't he??? Maybe he should have provided a little more guidance to his son instead of handing him off to some hanger-on/ne'er-do-well who's leeched onto the family.

I think Bulter was a good idea gone bad. Worked for his brother as a LB but was not going to work for a higher profile player like Bryce. Three years with this guy. Wow. Hope he goes away.

I do not think Bulter wants him at UT. I also think he should have stepped aside when Brown starting looking seriously at UT because of OKU. Direct conflict of interest.

If Brown were to go to Oregon. Does Nike support Bulter's Potential Players Organization by providing Nike Football Gear. This is a nightmare.

We are talking about a 17 year old high school student. Who knows what he will do?

Understood. We do not need Bulter's drama. 90% of this is Bulter not the kid.

I agree and also think his dad didn't realize Butler would go to the level he has with Bryce. He didn't go so crazy with his brother, so it's not his dad's fault either. Dad has stepped up to the plate.

This guy is going to be an awesome Vol.

Personally from the few times I've talked to Bryce on facebook, he is cool cat. Funny intelligent dude. Wherever he goes I wish him the best. No need to pester him and fill his ears full of go to UT!!

Really think that Brown is ready for this to be over. This LSU trip is a sideshow to Bulter's show. If if were not for Bulter, I do believe Brown would have signed with somebody by now or honored his commitment to Miami.

Dad wanted his son to go on the Miami Official Visit, but Bulter hoopla IMO caused Miami and USC to go cold. We are not desperate for Brown but neither were they.

Look at the teams on his list.

USC can live without him and so can Miami.

LSU just wants him because TN is in the Mix. (Kinda a
GA/TN type sit with Geathers)

Oregon could use him but they will be a 2nd tier team in the PAC 10 with afterthought exposure on the East Coast.

Kansas and Kansas State are close to home but if brother did not go there why should he.

Tennessee offers the best exposure the quickest opportunity to get into the mix and the good running backs so that he will not have to shoulder the weight of the team.

Excellent post, Sudden Impact. Spot on. Good summary of the current situation with BB.

I've just started visiting the recruiting board recently and I had no idea we where even in the running for Bryce Brown until I came here.

Sorry for being so out of the loop, but when is he expected to announce his decision?

wheaton you always come on here and quote 10 different posts but then provide no real substance as to why brown would choose oregon over the vols, other than your atrocious uniforms and free shoes. no-one here thinks that he will pick a school solely because of this girl but it can't hurt our chances

Not true at all. I posted all kinds of reasons for why Brown would choose Oregon. Given that a number of posters here are clearly still insecure about those reasons, they must have been good ones.

As far as quoting people and not bringing up the pro Oregon points again, you've made too many assumptions. I'm just participating in the on-topic conversation. Not trying to needlessly harrass people about the Ducks. Like Brown said, "Oregon sells itself."

You keep talking smack about your Ducks, but we all know in 2010 we're going to shut your trap.

I hadn't even mentioned the Ducks. Yet, you're so wound up about them that you consider me writing anything at all to be about them. Relax.

With Masoli being a senior in 2010. I like the Ducks odds in that game no matter who has Brown. I'm pretty sure that there are others here that aren't as sure as you either.

Oregon could use him but they will be a 2nd tier team in the PAC 10 with afterthought exposure on the East Coast.

I think the Ducks get better exposure in the East than UT does in the West.

Sorry about that... just trying to figure out where BB would come in on the games that market players, create hype, and increase their star value. I'm not sure he's the kind of guy who cares too much about that sort of thing since apparently he's still considering the Ducks.

Vols= better marketing, better coaching, better winning tradition, better NFL network, and now... officially, better women.

Ducks= more variety and fashion options for shoes and shirts from Nike

You talk more about the Ducks than I do.

And actually, Oregon is known to do pretty well getting attention for their players. Dixon got all kinds of coverage. ESPN GameDay came to Autzen twice in the same year to watch him play. Jonathan Stewart got his own graphic novel. Harrington got a banner the size of a building in NYC. As Brown noted, they helped Dixon get the rehab in their facilities and updates to NFL scouts. They take care of their players.

We've been over the rest. Hilarious...

They helped Dixon all right....allowed him to play on a tore up knee. That's the lowest of the low from a coaching standpoint.

I share the same opinon as I read earlier. If PotentialPlayers.com gets any kind of support from Nike, it has Butler in Brown's ear about the positives of Oregon. Without Nike, Oregon is just another avg PAC 10 team. God Bless Phil Knight.

I actually agree that they shouldn't have allowed Dixon to play. But, Dixon himself sees it differently. Belotti gave him the decision.

Oregon is lucky to have associations with Nike. Just about every D-1 program has their big donors. UT doesn't?

Nike gives the players jobs while they're on campus and let them design their own jerseys and junk.

I'm pretty sure Haslem isn't giving out many jobs at a gas station for them.

Phil Knight basically runs the Oregon Athletic Department.

Alright i've got kind of a poll question:

Which will happen first?
A. We get our next committ for 2010.
B. Bryce Brown announces his choice

Does Arthur Sr. interpret UM's lack of response as a loss of interest in Bryce?

''Pretty much,'' he said. ``But unless it comes from Coach Shannon, it's all rumor and speculation.

``In all fairness to Coach Shannon, I have to kind of say I understand where they're coming from. This thing has turned into something we never anticipated.''

Given that a number of posters here are clearly still insecure about those reasons, they must have been good ones.

As for the number of UT posters here talking about a recruit's remaining choices, considering the site has over 21k members with 1-2k online continuously, the number posting is really not unusual.

However, what's evident to all of us is that the posts and persistent presence of an Oregon Homer far better define insecurity and abnormality than do our posts about a recruit and his remaining choices. If you took time to look around the board, you'd notice that we do this. In fact, Oku, for example, had more posts a few days ago than did Brown.

Would you be here if Oregon wasn't among this recruit's options? Would you be here if Oregon wasn't a desperate choice for him? We would be. So, there's nothing abnormal or insecure about that fact.

To see how insecure you look within the only thread you read... we've talked several times in this thread about LSU and Miami. Yet, neither of those schools have any Homers desperate enough to post 100+ notes on our board. And, there are several LSU fans who post here when something of mutual interests in ongoing. They're not that insecure. You are.

And, frankly, you should be. It would be a 'bone-headed,' in your words, choice for Brown. I think he's smarter than that. UT, LSU, and Miami are all better choices than is Oregon. Brown and the world knows that. It goes without saying, so there's rarely a quote like that from a recruit about any of those schools. No reporter or reader questions those options, as such a quote that a traditional college football powerhouse "sells itself" would too tautological to publish. :p
