Helping the kid with the information and giving advice, is different than steering them somewhere for your own personal agenda. Parents should be involved in the process, some are involved for the wrong reasons. The kid has to be happy with the situation or it will not matter.

Guess it depends on who your parents are.

It doesn't sound like to me that Brown's parents are trying to steer him anywhere.

My first reaction was anti-Butler. But, after giving it some thought, it actually doesn't bother me that he was trying to charge for the information. I mean, why not? Rivals and Scout do the same thing, just on a larger scale.

Maybe Butler just doesn't have great business sense. But, I can't really blame him for seeing a demand situation and trying to capitalize on it the same way the multi-million dollar recruiting industry has. As long as Brown is ok with it. I don't think it's any different than say the video game industry where a small developer company sees massive blizzard and tries to make a small independent game just to get a small portion of the market.

I've been saying the same thing. Scout and Rivals make millions of dollars off those kids. I pay Hubbs 100 dollars a year and I used to do the same with Scout. What's wrong with trying to make a buck, this country is built on an entrepenural spirit. I'm sorry but I personally wouldn't appreciate everybody making money off my talent and me not seeing a dime of it.

I do think Bryce is a good kid just trying to make an informed decision. It's not a big deal... as long as he chooses UT. :eek:k:

Great point. I was the same way until I read your post. I was completely anti-Butler. I thought he would be trouble in the future. But, as you say, other companies are doing the same thing just on a larger scale. Good post!

This next weekend Bryce brown, Jake Heaps, and a DT named Geathers who is 6'6'' 320 lbs are going to be on campus. big weekend. I hope to get one maybe 2 of those guys.

No just an unoffical. Still, him coming all the way from Washington to see us tells me he is very interested.

the video game industry. Why have the parents let this leech manipulate their son for his own gain? It's very wrong, obviously wrong.

Kwame Geathers the DT would be "huge": we need to bring any DT on the board right now, and dude is 6'6, 320lb...

His one brother played for UGA, another brother is playing for SC, UNC was also in the mix. He had plenty of reasons to commit to anyone of them. But he did not commit.

We have virtually NOBODY (except for big Dan) who can play DT at SEC level. I really can't think of a reason that he doesn't come to UT considering our depth of DTs and, considering YOYO is with us......

ESPN and other say he is an OL not DL. We need those too.

"Geathers is an absolutely huge lineman that will probably end up on the offensive side of the ball. " ESPN

IMO OL is a bigger need right now than DT... although that seems funny to type.

At DT they have 6 guys if Walls doesn't play there. They can slide Brown inside on passing downs like Ayers did last year. They can also go with a situational 3 man fronts to reduce the pressure.

OL is at critical mass. Very, very thin this year... and then they lose all four guys who have any experience at all.
