After reading BB's interview on Rivals.... I am pretty sure he is not coming to UT. He basically said we dont have good enough players for him to excel....yet, he thinks OREGON or KSU does?!?! Even his HS coach said he is a "me first" type of player, and alienated his team in HS. I am not sure we want this guy.... I hope we dont lose Oku by going on this wild goose chase for Brown.

Hubbs hasn't said anything since saying he heard BB was coming to town but wasn't official yet, at least not to him. And that he thought we were a long shot.

FTR, Hubbs (Respect him a ton) said we were a long shot with JJ too.

The two days before Janzen signed, Hubbs had said that UT was very much in it and thought this would be a signing day surprise.

Anything can happen after he visits.

Agree. For exampl,e I think he'll 'redo the math' on his probability estimates on UT re-emerging to its national championship status versus Oregon and KSU who have never sniffed a NC.

This is an awesome staff... and the Vols can recruit the talent to get there. It's really his choice if he wants to be a part of that. Of course, players of his caliber will help attract others. I'd like to see him come because it would accelerate the inevitable return of UT to the elite ranks of college football.

Dude, just don't comment on me. Please. All you have is a constant agenda. It's quite ridiculous.

I know what he said around signing day, I mean when the idea of JJ first came up and he wrote his article on him and his dad. He said he was a longshot.

My God man.

we were a long shot, but you got to shoot for something.

If BB is looking for a high profile program to catapult him to the NFL, he should look no further than UT. Oregon is about the last team I would think of - the only team that matters in the Pac-10 is USC. On the west coast, Oregon is perennially viewed as the 3rd or 4th best team in the Pac-10.

His comments revealed nothing IMO. He is still trying to make up his mind, and he obviously feels like we have enough positive things going on to give us an official visit, something that LSU or USC doesnt have for sure yet. Evidently he must think the positive things about Tennessee are enough to strongly consider us. And my thought is if we can get an official, then we will be in the running.

What he said about Oregon, he said about UT last week. So don't think Oregon somehow has something no one else does.

I'll keep that in mind...

UT's defense ranked sixth in total defense at the end of the year, yes ucla did move the ball, but that was the first game, they could have been #1 at the end if we had any kind of offense, our d was on the field 3/4 of the game and was ranked 6TH, shutup ur ignorant

6th in total defense by what measurement? From the schedule, it looks like decent numbers were put up. Also, if offense is the problem, I think that sort of trumps the point. Having challenging D's to play doesn't do anything positive if the offense can't even move the ball against bad D.

Oregon would have a tough time reaching 2,000 yards rushing as a team if they were in the SEC. So that argument doesnt hold any water.

Actually, your argument holds no water unless you can prove it beyond speculation and bias.

Come on guys...who wouldnt want to play for Oregon? Walking out on that field in their diamond plated green uniforms. Wow...sends chills down my spine.

I think this is a good picture of what Brown could look like in the current uniform:

I can see why he'd want to go to Oregon though. Best facilities in the country, insane home stadium, would easily be the 2nd best team in the conference right away, with a chance to knock off USC in the next couple years, and he'd be the focal point of the most prolific rushing offense in the country.

That's the way it's generally thought of in Eugene. :)

Leave Oregon alone. Those uniforms are their gimmick. A gimmick is what you need when you have no tradition. Go figure.

Actually, Oregon's first season was in 1894. Tennessee's was in 1891. So, I would say that makes their tradition pretty close.

I should know. My grandfather played for them.

Oregon was'nt the 1.

But, they could add one with Brown.

I love them because there is almost always something different....Nothin wrong with switching it up some.

Agreed. Nike works with the players to develop new uniforms. They are planning to release a new design in 2010. So, if Brown were to choose Oregon, he would presumably be involved in that process.

Seems like a cool way to extend the players role into the history of the team.

Days later, my question still stands, do the Ducks wear yellow or pink underwear?

And I'm still waiting to hear what president was in office when you were born.

I can't see this stud at that program.

He can.

The ducks are my favorite team on the western side of the mississippi river.

Right on. I'm hearing that a lot lately from people living away from Eugene. Oregon @ UT in 2010 will be a fun game. You should try to make it out to the re-match in 2011 to see Autzen (if you haven't already).

I don't think that was his point, exactly. He was saying that UT staff was trying to sell him on the idea that they would be running the USC/Reggie Bush system. Brown's (accurate imo) thought on that was that UT has different players than USC did and will thus have to tailor their system to who they really have.

You must not follow the Pac-10. Oregon beat USC the year before last and has consistently been in the top 3 for years now.

As far as the NFL goes, they just put Stewart there as a first round selection. Johnson, who split carries his entire college career, is projected to go in the 3rd this year.

Someone said that Oregon has never even sniffed an NC. I think that most who followed would agree that, under Kelly, with Dennis Dixon, the Ducks were an injury away from the NC.

If there was ever a case to charge a troll a fee for posting, wheaton4prez must be it.

I mean, a Duck fan. Why on earth would a second rate Pac-10 fan be posting on an SEC board other than trolling?

Just consider the utter nonsense represented in each of his posts.

According to him, Oregon, who has never won a conference championship (outright... a few they've shared) and forget about a National Championship has a better football tradition than does UT because according to him, we only formed a team a few years earlier. What a nut.

Do we need a make fun of Oregon thread? No one has ever really cared enough about such an irrelevant football team to post about the Ducks on the main board, until this guy decided to come here to use the UT board to try to sell the Ducks to Brown?

He is the ultimate troll as I don't come to this board to read squat about the Ducks and I doubt anyone else does. They are irrelevant.

Ban him? Does he qualify to be the first VN 'premium' poster? If so, I'd suggest a rate equivalent to the annual operating costs.

What year did they win the NC? What year were they in the title game? In history? Ever?

I'm not sure why you think whoever was president when I was born is relevant to any point you're miserably trying to make, but if your grandfather played for the 1894 Ducks as you claimed in this comment, you're a lot older than I am.

Actually, Oregon won outright in 1994 and 2001. Where are you getting your information?

It was UT that formed a team a few years before Oregon. I didn't say that their tradition is "better." Imo, that would be a senseless assertion since the appeal of the tradition would obviously depend on the persons experience with each program. I was just pointing out that Oregon has been carrying on the tradition of playing football for around the same amount of time.

They are irrelevant.

I disagree. They are relevant to the topic of Bryce Brown.

Are you sure that you are speaking for the entire board on this? I think I've been reasonable enough, despite insults being hurled at me. At least some here seem to appreciate an outside perspective on the subject. I appreciate hearing your take on it, even if I don't agree all the time. That's why I made an account in the first place.

The height of arrogance. What basis do you have for forming an opinion about UT football and what it's capable of doing?

You really don't know much about UT football, so you might keep your comments on that matter to yourself. It may have been 10 years since our last championship, but I can't imagine being a fan of a team who has NEVER won one that it call its own.

How is that relevant to where Bryce Brown should go to school? He doesn't get to take the NC trophies home. The only ones he can take credit for are the ones he helps win. And I think he has a better chance of that at Oregon than at UT.
