JB had a great call to the Calhoun's Saturday Conversation when he brought some startling #'s to the table. In Hamilton's 8 year reign of terror, Tennessee has captured 4 SEC Championships out of 72 in the sports that matter. That's 5% And during that time the SEC has won 26 National Championships. SEC has won 35% of the titles doled out. That Of course Tennessee has NONE. But what is really shocking is that Tennessee is 10th in the league in combines sports titles. Only Miss State and Vanderbilt trail Tennessee in SEC Championships during his 8 year reign of terror. As a matter of comparison, even Kentucky has 7, while UT has four.

Tennessee has spent $600 million and won four league titles. WOW......JB says Hamilton's salutation of 'expect to win' should be changed to 'expect to fin'. As in finish somewhere between 2nd and 12th depending on the sport. Those #'s are startling.

Are you trying to say Hamilton isn't that good of an AD? First I heard of it......

You are forgetting the title Lovie Smith won.

Basilio is a greasy moron. His ratings suck and his predictions are garbage.

but that doesn't account for fundraising rankings!

Agree....would like to see where UT stands in fund raising, must be in the top 2-3.

As well...MH does not coach any of the teams nor does he recruit....I suppose the argument is that he made bad hires in the coaching area....and we know that story has merit.

While fundraising is important, so is winning. More winning = more fundraising

Not necessarily sticking up for Hamilton here but what are the "sports that matter"? Is he including women's sports? I'd like to see these numbers fleshed out a bit. Got to remember that UT is one of only 3 or 4 schools in the country that have separate AD's for men's and women's sports.

Assuming those numbers are for men's sports only, that's a pretty compelling argument for change. I've been a Hamilton supporter and it's hard to argue against 10th worst in a 12-team league over 8 years.

I'm not sure we agree on the definition of revelation.

But hey, we're rollin' in dough! Maybe we can commission a trophy for his fundraising prowess.

That's interesting how he thinks that there have been 72 SEC championships in football and men's basketball over the last 8 years. Also, I only count 1 championship.

I've been saying all along that the backup Athletic Director has a hell of an arm and we are wasting his talents on the sidelines.

I agree, he says "sports that matter." Seeing as how he says 8 years and 72 Championships that would mean that he is considering 9 different sport teams of UT's to be sports that matter. Additionally, as said in a prior post, UT has two separate athletic directors for men's and women's sports. That strikes out all women's sports. I just can't agree with the 72 Championships in sports that matter to the fanbase.

Mens Sports:
1) Football
2) Basketball
3) Baseball
4) Track & Field
5) Tennis
6) Golf
7) Swimming & Diving
8) Cross Country
9) ?????

For me personally, I would find it hard to draw the line anywhere below #4.

I am in agreement that Hamilton's career at UT is likely on the downhill side but I think that this statistical analogy is nothing short of grasping at straws. There has been plenty of blemishes on Hamilton's tenure at UT to justify a cause in letting him go but I think there is no reason to conjure up ridiculous notions only to pile it on the guy. If there's one thing i've found in my life-long endurance as a Volunteer, it's that our fans are extremely aggresive in their beliefs. When they love someone then that person can do no wrong in their eyes. If a person has frsutrated volnation then they want to burn them to the ground. It is both a gift and a curse for those subjected to the scrutinies of the fanbase.
