Correct. The first big test that will be visible for everyone to see is if there are any roster changes. My guess is they don’t make this move right now unless they knew the locker room would stay together.
You're not suggesting Bruce Pearl would go behind closed doors and lobby for a favorable outcome that benefits him and his family while simultaneously screwing everyone else involved, are you?Unlikely any of his players portal out right now as they would have to sit for the upcoming season. He’s kind of screwed them over in that regard but helped make sure Steven had a stacked roster for his first season.
Rick is going to do the same to us and have Gainey be his replacement most likely. Just hope that isn’t for a few more years and at least Gainey is much more respected than Steven Pearl lmaoI find this trend of coaches retiring right before the season starts to force the university to give their preferred assistant a shot at the job pretty nauseating to be honest. Not that I care that much here because this will be hilarious.
Bruce Pearl isn’t a good person. So of course he pulls a move like this.I find this trend of coaches retiring right before the season starts to force the university to give their preferred assistant a shot at the job pretty nauseating to be honest. Not that I care that much here because this will be hilarious.
You entirely missed the point! Logic says you don’t 1) do nepotism 2) replace a great coach with “in waiting” assistant FOR FIVE YEARS that’s never been a head coach! It’s dumb! So AU will get what they deserve in due time!I don’t get this response. Auburn just had an 11 year run under Bruce that brought the program out of the literal gutter….
Take the emotions out of it, no sane or person with a pulse would have passed on Bruce in 2014 if he said after an 10+ year run and a final four appearance, they’d have his son take over as head coach…. Looney tunes for anyone who says they would have passed.
Also, you must not know the story of Steven F$&@ing Pearl when he arrogantly said to someone in Knoxville “Don’t you know who I am? I’m Steven F’in Pearl”I don’t get this response. Auburn just had an 11 year run under Bruce that brought the program out of the literal gutter….

He will be head coach again somewhere if he loses that election. I wouldn't be surprised if it's back at Auburn. That guy just has too much energy to sit around and watch somebody else coach. If Bruce doesn’t run for Tuberville’s seat, the whole thing might just be a way for him to be a “part time” head coach. You can’t pay him $10 million/year to work 40 hours a week. But you can pay him a couple million and overpay Eff’g to work the 80-100 hours. It won’t surprise me to see Bruce sitting on the bench. Especially if he loses the Senate election in November 2026 (or a special election sooner if TT steps down earlier).
However, Bruce would get more attention sitting at a TV set doing halftime, pre-game, and oust-game analysis. Or with Dickie V winding down his career he could be the color guy on the broadcast of the biggest games each week.

My post had nothing to do with Bruce’s coaching.
I’m glad we aren’t stuck with the brat!
Which is the best case for Auburn and the players.I'm not sure if the players can even really hit the transfer portal at this point...with football it reopens with a coaching change, but the player is essentially having to sit the remainder of the season if they leave.
With basketball season not starting, but the players already enrolled I don't know how this would work to be honest.
