UVA Basketball: Tony Bennett's Retirement Opens Transfer Portal for 30 Days
The timing of Tony Bennett's immediate retirement as Virginia basketball head coach is confusing and curious and will undoubtedly be one of the first questionswww.si.com
You're right. Unless something has changed since Bennett's retirement last fall, and barring any court challenges, undergraduates would be ineligible this season.
He did medical sales for 3 years before starting coaching. Although his dad was not allowed to coach at the time.Steven Pearl. In my 50 years of UT fandom, my least favorite person ever to wear the orange. By far. So glad his dad dragged him far away from here. Never had to lift a finger or work for anything his entire life. In true form he's gifted a plum college coaching job.
You all want our AD to hire a 65-year-old retread instead of finding some fresh blood? That's some nonsense. Our program is probably one of the top 10 strongest/most successful in all of college basketball at the moment, and we've got a brilliant AD who has more history with basketball than any other sport. You don't think he could play that strong hand to land us a much better option?Who the hell do you want? Steve Forbes![]()

it is a huge risk.... But then again on the grand scale of things, you take that trade off considering where the program was on day 1 to know with Bruce. Like no one out of their right mind would have said no to Bruce back in 2014 if they were told they would get Bruce for 11 years with a Final Four, but it would end with his son getting the job for likely 1-2 years.I liked Bruce and hate the way things went down here at UT. He’s been a great coach for Auburn, but Auburn is out of their minds signing off on his son being HC.
You act like 65 is old, what the helly. We hire Barnes when he was 60 and he's still coaching!!!You all want our AD to hire a 65-year-old retread instead of finding some fresh blood? The citizens of this country are having no problem electing 80 year olds as President and entrusting their sharp minds with the Football. 65 is just a baby. You all want our AD to hire a 65-year-old retread instead of finding some fresh blood?
