Sad for UT and the players. It's hard for me to feel any semblance of sorrow for a guy who brought it all upon himself.

Since Bruce is gone Hammy needs to be gone too. He botched the entire process backing Pearl and then stabbing him in the back the day before the tourney. We will regret this decision within 3 years.

If we move for rapid judgement from the AA with no defense (since Pearl will accept guilt and responsibility for all allegations), we may be able to get the sanctions ironed out in time. If we feel the sanctions will be small (scholarship or so) with Pearl gone, then the hire may be not so impeded.

I am sorry but the probability that we will hire a once in a lifetime coach back to back is not likely. That's why you call it a "once in a life time coach" because they are almost impossible to find. We are facing major NCAA penalties, were not a program with a lot of tradition, mens basketball is not the number one sport on campus, and probably were not going to pay a lot for a basketball coach right now. After that description what type of coach is ready to leave his job for that headache? Fact is its going to take a long hard road to get back to what we had these last 7 years.

Pearl was arguably a top 10 coach in America and arguably the number 1 in terms of PR and Marketing. In order for Tennessee Basketball to do well we need a great Marketable coach that is well recieved around the country because Tennessee Basketball doesn't have the tradition to sell itself like a Carolina. Look at the so called candidates were looking at Mooney and Shaka. Those guys couldn't hold a candle to what Pearl does. Trust me people are gonna face the harsh truth of that in the next couple of years. I hope that doesn't happen but most likely it will.

I didn't know one elite eight made you a "once in a lifetime coach." What the hell does that make Coach K? Basketball god?

Why is this a "buyout"? Didn't he violate the terms of his contract with the NCAA violations? We shouldn't owe Pearl anything TBO. :ermm:

You must be pretty young and have no knowledge of UT basketball history. It would be hard to say Bruce has been the best coach in my lifetime. Nevertheless, it isn't the fall of the program. There are plenty of good coaches out there. Fans like you really need to do some research before popping off such ridiculous nonsense
