Bruce Pearl: Auburn coach for life

Shows you should just cheat. He cheated, refused to talk about it with anyone. Gets a lifetime contract and two game suspension. I hate pearl.
He learn his lesson at UT to keep your mouth shut. He lied about a barbecue and then admitted that he lied which should have counted for something and then got fired and exiled. Sorry but he is not an idiot. As for cheating, a way of life in Alabama. We are apparently very bad at cheating.

But they were in active pursuit of his "mediocrity," as you call it, no?
It's a euphemism for the fact he's never brought home any titles for us. It's not like they where negotiating with a coach that has won the NCAA or has a pedigree of deep tournament runs overflowing with Final Four teams.

But they were actively pursuing him and willing to pay him a substantial sum, were they not?

He just oozes smarmy. I can't prove it but I bet he still cheats.Time will tell. His ex would probably give a big amen to that.

They all cheat.
I doubt that. Maybe all get close to the line, and a bunch bend the rules a little, but there are some who are out and out cheaters. They're the ones who get show causes and have assistants go to prison.

Or maybe they're the ones sloppy enough to get caught. I stand by my opinion that they all cheat, most especially amongst the highest tier.

I do agree that he comes across as smarmy. I give you that.

To be fair, he was punished for coming clean about lying about where a picture was taken. The violation he lied about was a minor secondary violation which is no longer a violation.
He should’ve never lied about such a small thing. Or he never should’ve admitted the lie. That’s what every other coach does and they keep their jobs. Cal, Self, Wade, Roy Williams and on and on and on….
The recruits parents had picture mad at the cookout. hard to expect to get by with a lie when there are pictures and witnesses.

The only thing dumber than the decision to hold the cookout knowing it was a violation was to leave behind photo evidence of it.

Wished he was still in Knoxville!

In the first year, I felt the same way. At the time, Bruce had left the biggest positive impact on Tennessee basketball since Ray Mears. But I also see why the administration could never trust him again. As a basketball coach, I still like the man. But if I had the responsibility of an administrator? Or I was a big money donor? No way I could trust him. Remember, he was sanctioned and retained before he was fired. And that happened because he was caught in another lie. What do you expect, they were going to give him a third chance to lie again? And it result in SMU football type sanctions?

I remember someone asking me to sign the petition to bring him back. They knew how much I enjoyed Bruce's years here, and how POed I was when he got fired. But was I going to sign that thing? Absolutely not, because by then? I knew the full story. The guys who fired him hated firing him. But Bruce's arrogance gave them no other choice.

So for those who wish him back? Do it in one hand. You know what to do with the other. That one hand is going to stay empty, no matter how hard you wish for it.

The Vols badly need practice in 3 point shooting , as well as scoring in the paint. You cannot tell me we could not get Vescovie open enough to shoot a 3 against Texas. If Coach Barnes could not develop a screen play to open him , we need to be looking for a new coach. Vescovie would have be just as affective sitting at home drinking beer.

Good defensive teams are simply not gonna let Vescovi beat them moving forward. Someone else is gonna have to step up.

Vescovi has scored his fair share against good defensive teams this year, at this point I would say the Texas game is an outlier.

It's an outlier to this point, but the concern has to be with if it is the blueprint going forward? That is what remains to be seen. Any team that leaves him unguarded on the perimeter is not practicing good defense because he cannot create his own shot off the dribble.
