We have a good mix of veterans and some highly touted, 4-star kids who will be starting next year. I promise you everyone will know who James Franklin is next year -- as a sophomore, his stats in his first year at Mizzou were better than Chase Daniel and Blaine Gabbert's.
I think the key will be the interior of our defensive line. We have one defensive tackle, a senior, who was the top-rated tackle in the country coming out of high school -- Sheldon Richardson... a man beast... Problem is our depth there is very untested. That concerns me.
I think most people discount Mizzou, as many of said, is that we're the 'wild card,' the unknown. And I'm not saying we'll win the East, not by any means... but I think we'll be competitive and surprise some teams with how hard we play... Pinkel has done an excellent job of recruiting kids for his system.

Yeah, He is the coach of Vanderbilt
As an old, and I mean old dyed-in-the wool Vol fan, I see Franklin as another Gerry DiNardo who got a lot of hype and then had the Vols smoke him by 65 or so points in Nashville.... Just wait - He'll go down in flames just as all Vandy coaches have since I was a little kid and followed them and Tn (in the 50's)
I have Georgia winning the East. The Dawgs have a very good, experienced D returning and a savvy QB in Aaron Murray. After that, I have South Carolina. I could see Tennessee coming in third as my surprise team. The Vols will no longer be a young team. They'll have a lot of three-year starters on what figures to be a potent offense. They will be counting on a lot of unproven guys on the D-line but my hunch is they have a shot to win nine this year. I slotted UF fourth ahead of Mizzou because they have a much deeper group of athletes on defense. After that, I have Vandy and UK rounding out the division.

I know many discount Mizzou, but if nothing else, we could play spoiler for Georgia... They play us in the second game of the season at our place, our first SEC home game. The place will be rockin' and Georgia never plays well early in the season AND when they have to cross the Mississippi.
