Bruce Feldman gets it.

Why the rush to judgment? Let the season play out. My bet is there will be pretty much a consensus by Vol fans by Jan 2 or so. If its close Hart may decide based on who's available. Hart knows his jobs on line with next HC hire so he'll want a stone cold lock that the next guy is way better or he'll stand pat or in this case Derek;)

Almost anybody we hire will be a stone cold lock to be better than DD. All we have to do is hire someone with a winning record.

I did. And I don't see him as this great coach. If he is such a great coach why is he not coaching. If he is so great and NFL team would pay him megamillions to coach their team. Why isn't this happening?

He took Rich Gannon(a man once benched for Sean Salisbury) and the Raiders from last in the AFC West to the top of the division in 3 years. He got screwed by the tuck rule, was traded for draft picks by an insane owner, then took Brad Johnson and won a Super Bowl.

VolSwaff and Wylo let's make predictions.

Tennessee beats Miss St.
Tennessee scares the hell out of Alabama but loses
Tennessee beats South Carolina
Tennessee wins their remaining 4 games They finish 9-3

What are your predictions?

Based off of the pattern from the last 3 years....

Miss St. beats us
Bama embarrasses us
South Carolina beats us but we play them close
We split with Mizzu and Vandy but win the rest

Painfully false but not surprising that you think so...

in 2 sentences, can you defend why you have a thimble sized amount of faith in Derek Dooley. Nothing crazy, just 2 sentences of measurable, rational thought.

I really hate to say it, but I could see this happening as well..

I do think we beat Vandy though... Franklin's seems to have anchored down and basically sank the ship...

"john gruden gets paid 4.3 million a year to sit in a booth for 17 weeks on monday nights"...maybe thats why hes not coaching. :good!:

Without a really bad call and Vandy shooting themselves in the foot last year, they should have beaten us by 17 in Knoxville. I really don't see us blowing them away this season.

Lets say we win @ MSU and lose to SC and Bama and win out in November. His SEC wins in 3 years will be MSU, Vandy, Kentucky, and Ole Miss.

So even at 8-4, he won't have a win over a top SEC team in THREE YEARS

Guess you didn't get the memo that Missouri is now part of the SEC....

That's the opinion of 1 talking head and I doubt he knows the player roster situation.

Press just trying to start more drama to have something to talk about IMO.

I still think that with even 7 Wins CDD will be here next season.

VFL...GBO!!!

What roster situation?

Questions:

Gruden's overall record is 100 wins, 85 losses. Is this acceptable to you?

Why is an NFL team not offering him megamillions to be their coach?

Your pattern, is that your prediction of the season?

It might also be because his last 6 seasons as a head coach he won 45games and lost 51 games with two losing playoff games.

If he had 6 seasons at Tennessee with a 45-51 record would you be supporting him?

I'm willing to hire him and find out how this guy really feels.

Says the Florida game was a watershed moment.

Says there was no shame in the UGA loss but that Dooley can't lead the team to a win against any team of consequence, and that that is unacceptable at UT.

He says he would have thought Dooley would be able to get at least one meaningful win in all of his years of coaching.

Mississippi State is not going to save Dooley's job. The jury is still out on them.

Says if we beat Miss State but lose to USCe and Bama that it is a very unimpressive 8-4 and the powers that be would see that things are not working out.

He thinks Dooley has a 25% chance of making it out of 2012. That the only reason Dooley even got the job is because we were in such a bad situation.

Says a "pretty good coach" in the SEC will get beat a lot, and Tennessee expects to be a Top 10 team.

Says short of putting a scare into Alabama or beating USCe, Dooley's not gonna be around.

Says there has been too much losing and shoulder shrugging at this point.
I think the Florida game was Dooley's chance to finally make his mark in the SEC, and as a coach in general. He missed it. He had a chance to do it again last week against UGA, and now it's a slippery slope. He needed one of those, and with the talent on offense, it was certainly attainable.

I think a loss at MSU will send things in the wrong direction...fast. Just like the USCjr loss did in Fulmer's last year.
