*****Bruce Feldman: Fulmer undermining Currie hoping to become AD

No one knows exactly what happened so I would offer we all need to stop with the rumors and observe, very closely, as this plays out. Right now we have a lot of pieces but not enough to guess the whole picture.

I would, however, ask this: If you were watching someone wholly and utterly screw up the search, felt you could get the right guy and had the clout to affect change; what would you do?

I would take action and am sure most of you would too. The fact that Currie was a driving force in Fulmer's ouster probably just made the pie sweeter vs. convincing Phil to eat it.

Blackburn should be the guy but I don't have any reason to believe it should have ever been Currie; I'll take Fulmer any day. He loves UT and will get us a capable coach.

.@Brett_McMurphy just told us that people inside the Tennessee program were calling coaches who Currie was trying to hire and tell them not to come and that it is toxic.

Bruce feldman just putting out click bait

Nope as the same questions arose when Fulmer took over for Majors as interim while Johnny was have heart Surgery. Fulmer was OC. The offense sucked. Majors goes into the hospital and all the sudden offense couldn't be stopped. Majors comes back, loses 3 straight games because the offense sucked again and the gets fired. Phil takes over and the rest is history.

:thud:

I’m fine with Phil as AD over Currie, but not if he undermined our coaching search to get it there.

Philip has a history of exploiting the program for his personal gain. The momentary pain was worth it when he backstabbed Majors, but will that be true this time?

How can you be appreciative of Fulmer undermining the Leach hire for his own personal gain?

How is Tennessee better offer with Fulmer at AD and no coach v. Currie as AD and Leach as HC?

Currie's days were already numbered, but now we are missing out on a great coach.

I understand your reasoning but we need a bigger change. Hopefully this is not has-slum doing and better boosters are starting to win.

Getting Leach will not help without an administration change.

Pretty much common knowledge when this happened and that's why Majors estranged himself from the school all those years.

Fulmer is slipping in his old age.

Surprised it took him this long to stab someone in the back to try and get their job.

Let's say he did undermine Currie. So what? He's a FOOTBALL guy looking at a football program being driven into the toilet by a prissy sissy political hack. Something drastic had to be done, and if true, he did it. WE helped undermine hiring of two coaches totally unsuited for the job. Sometimes if you can't get things done through the front door you go through the back. I trust his judgement and instincts to help get the right people in place a lot more than that bunch of clowns that's been running things. THANKS COACH!!

I don't know why this is so hard to believe. I think it's more difficult to believe that our coaching debacle was purely due to Currie's incompetence. There is no way one person can be that incompetent.

Wow -- I was really thinking Currie was going to redeem himself by hiring Leach... and then, he's fired and the Leach deal is nixed. Can this ****show possibly get any worse?

At this point you guys should just beg Brady Hoke to take the job and call it a day. UT is the biggest dumpster fire I have ever seen.

Wow..You spent all the time and effort to join VN and that's the best you can do?? UT will get back to a championship level while your school will wallow in mediocrity for eternity..UT won the first BCS championship and quite a few more before that, but the only way the Puppy Pound could/will EVER get to the ACC championship or the BCS playoffs?? Buy tickets..Now tuck tail and hit the bricks....

Hope that one day we'll know the facts of what's happened behind the curtain.

I have a hard time believing Fulmer was going around actively calling all these coaches.

Maybe coaches were calling him and asking him his opinion of the UT situation? That makes sense to me especially if he's someone trusted in the coaching community. Then, if he told candidates, "look, I don't think Currie will be around much longer", or "there is a lot of issues with the current admin", who could blame him?
