What do you think Coach Pearl and Coach Summitt think about the news of CPF being fired?

They will never say anything publicy I'm sure unless its the typical statement created by the sports information department.

100% oppposed to the decision, I bet. Part of what CBP talked up in his revival of UT basketball was the great athletic tradition at UT. Like it or not, that tradition took a hit today.

we have a temporary basketball forum now :)

Bruce knows if he doesn't perform then his job will be questioned, but it is not looking like that anytime soon. Pat is here for life! She is probably in charge of hiring our new coach :p

Sad to see a friend leave but understanding that if you do not perform up to expectations, this is what happens.

Bruce's expectations are no where in the same ballpark as Fulmers. Tennessee Football should be getting routine SEC Titles, Basketball should be getting Tournament Bids....a lot lower expectations to meet....Now in 10 years Bruce may alter those expectations.

Pat is so competitive she would fire herself if she had some years like the last few

Bruce's expectations are not at all just to get tourny bids

Summitt was one of the leaders of the Keep Buzz Peterson parade. She needs to stick to coaching her team.

Their probably saddened but are realistic to know this is a business and you are paid for wins. When a day like today happens it just magnifies it due to the publicity that surrounds it. No one enters the field of coaching without the expectations of winning seasons and being compensated for it while improving the lives of young adults along the way.I am sure given the current economy alot of people lost jobs today that are far less paying but far more impacting on their familes

I didn't mean the expectations, I ment if he did that consistantly we wouldn't call for his head. Look at Jim Boehim....he hadn't won a title but gotten tournament bids for 20+ years....not even close to the hot seat and he was at a very competetive basketball program. Once he won the Title, he was cemented into the Hall of Fame. Bruce won't be questioned as long as he contends for the SEC Title each and every year and makes the Tournament as follows.

Yes, yes it did. And just thinking about what's fixing to happen is making me very sick.

I'd like to see Bruce and Pat take over coaching for a while and maybe get some discipline out of this team.
