Bru Breakout

While, yes, WRs typically want the ball, the good ones know that the name of the game is for the offense to move the ball. If a WR is drawing extra coverage their numbers will be down and someone else's will go up. Bru knows that it is simply a matter of waiting for it to be your day again.
Bru's Numbers since the Florida Game:
vs UF - 5 catches 102 yds 1 TD
vs LSU - 7 catches 140 yds
vs. Bama - 2 catches 38 yds (Hyatt went off)
vs. UTM - 2 catches 8 yards (Hyatt again went off)
Point is after his 2 best games, coverage increased to him, Hyatt & Keyton benefitted. Bru knows he is not a forgotten man, it is simply what the defenses are giving the offense. His time will come again, when it does, he'll be ready.

For sure. Know what I like about our WRs? They know how to block. If you look close enough, you will see that their blocking frequently springs the receiving WR for chucks of yardage or TDs.

I gotta be honest, I am a little worried that if things keep going like they do, Bru could get frustrated and leave at the end of the year.
He's a starter and has doubled the the receiving yards he had from his entire time at USC. The fans love him and he knows that, why would he go anywhere else?

This game is tailored for Bru based upon what it seems like UK will be trying to accomplish defensively. He seems to run more of our underneath routes and if UK is focused on keeping everything in front of them he should be targeted a good bit.
Agreed. I love this offense. Take away Hyatt, fine, Bru will just run over folks.

Bru is a 'possession' reciever. He'll get the needed, sure yards to keep the chains moving. He is finding his way and if he is a defining moment type game, it'll be Georgia. When their db's are chasing Hyatt and Tillman. Leaving Bru and Keyton floating in the middle.

It won’t be an issue. Roughly 30 passing attempts divided up between 8 pass catchers. Roughly 6 of those would go to RB/TE so that still leaves 24 targets for the 4 WR. Non-issue.

Throwing intermediate toward the sideline vs down field has been somewhat of struggle for HH.

Because of our wide splits, its a much farther throw that still has to be accurate. It still has to be quick.
It's been at least 4 times i can remember to McCoy alone. It's not the most routine throw.
They were all to the left side of the field too.

Might be a little harder for him to throw on that side of the field.

Is it just me or does it feel like he's due for a monster game? He's been playing very well (400 total yards, ~18 YPC, 2 TDs) and made some HUGE catches for us at key moments. He is trusted.

But I think his number is about to come up for a big breakout game. Hyatt and Tillman are going to get the lion's share of the secondary's attention. Wouldn't surprise me to see Bru McCoy featured more than usual. I'm calling it: Bru is due!!!

I really think him, warren or Fant is going to have a breakout game. Bru’s physical game will let him post up on some guys and I think he’ll probably break one.

Ky. Will probably try to guard against any long throws and he may break a few tackles for a long one. Dude’s a monster.

Well, Tillman was
So that’s an average of what 57 yards? He hadn’t been targeted quite as much lately because of Hyatt. What happens when Tillman gets back to himself and Brus targets go down even more? You can guarantee that wouldn’t frustrate Bru?

Sure thing bud.

Tillman was actually targeted too much before he went down. Hooker has had to go without that security blanket and Hyatt, Bru, and Keyton have really stepped up. Ball distribution will be more evenly distributed going forward. Tillman going down has actually helped Hooker build more trust in the rest.

I think Tillman being back actually opens the offense up even more. Kinda pick your poison, who do you focus on if you're the defense?

Even if Tillman isn’t 100%, him being on the field is a big target that must be accounted for. Tillman is also a really good perimeter blocker. It can only help the offense.

So all of a sudden he is going from and I quote "The best decision of my Life" to "The worse".

I don't think so. Right now he is ahead of his own schedule. He is also settled in and I am looking forward to seeing him next year.

So I don't think so, quit worrying about this stuff and enjoy the moment. Too much drama created by doing so.

Think about it, he has been to USC, TX, USC and Tennessee. Do you think he is ready to move again now that he has a secure position, a great coach, a family and a great team on the rise?

Simple Logic. So just quit and shame on you for thinking this way.

McCoy has the 2nd most targets on the team and has played 90% of the snaps. 90%!
Next year he will return as our unquestioned #1. Keyton sure looks like a #2. All we need is 1 out of Squirrel, Jimmy, Jimmy, or a portal WR to support them.

My question is... Will Bru stay at his current position (which was Payton's last year) or will he take over Tillman's spot? If the latter, does Keyton switch to McCoy's current spot? Either way this seems to make the open position at WR next year Hyatt's slot position. Slot might be a Squirrel vs Holiday battle and I could see them splitting reps based on their respective skill sets.

If UK 1:1 him this game, he will have 10 catches!

Bru from a talent standpoint is probably the best receiver we have. He hadn’t played for basically a season and a half before arriving. That said he is going to continue to ascend in production and the sky is the limit for him. HH is still developing a continuity with him also. He’s had with the other guys for over a year. The dude is an absolute beast and very thankful to have him. Bru is not going anywhere and will be #1 WR on the team next season.

I would think stay with Bru in his spot and Keyton playing where he has for last 4 games.

I'm shocked that anyone thinks Bru is the most talented receiver on the team. I don't see it. At all.
I’ve watched him since hs and UT was after him then. He is a legit 5* with size speed and route running. He can play any of the 3 spots.

I don't think he is a #1 receiver at this level. I don't think he can take the top off an SEC defense. Most if not all of his actual long catches are around 20 yards.
