we've heard ALL YEAR from Brown fans about how this supposed and somewhat mysterious injury affected his running. I wish the guy all success--if he become all SEC/AA caliber, no one will be happier than me--but I saw the Vols five times on TV this year and not once did I see any indication that Brown was in pain or seriously hurt--no limping, no nothing. So maybe he's just a very tough guy, or maybe the injury wasn't so bad. And this: If in fact he did have an injury that affected his running, why the hell wouldn't the coaches have played him less and Poole more? Just askin'.

I don't think the injury affected him that much until towards the end of the season. Wondering if the cold weather might have made it worse or something. That's why you didn't see Brown at all in the bowl game and Poole had several carries. He didn't do too bad in the first half of the season.

You didn't see BB in the bowl game because he was recovering from a concussion.

Brown's hip injury = elaborate hoax orchestrated by Eddie Gran and the Freemasons.

actually we've heard it from the coaching staff. They probably have more info than you can gather from watching 5 games on tv

Fact. But how much of it is really bothering him. His leg got blew up pretty hard. It goes back to all the hype surrounding this guy. He should be fine but its soley up to him and what he does this off season. He protects the ball well, great vision and he needs to really work on his speed. Jury is still out he could be BUST or BEAST. His brother surely has crapped his pants at Miami and is riding the bench. Is he hungry enough? Toney Williams and others will be.

Wasn't it this same hip problem that bothered him through much of high school? It might be one of those things that just doesn't really go away, unfortunately.

Actually in an after game interview (Memphis), Brown said his hip had really bothered him from about the second game. He said he was just struggling through it and although he wasn't sure at the time, he might have to have something done in the off-season to get it back to 100%. Wonder if the kid has a loose socket? That's an injury that will let you continue to play on it but would definitely hinder your ability to be explosive and make cuts. Whatever it is, I hope he gets back to the runner we all know he can be 'cause the Vols are going to need him.

I saw all I needed to see of BB early in the season to know he's a great player. He ran like a beast and delivered a blow very reminiscent of EB's hit on Knowsho during an INT being returned. This kid is good, extremely good and we're lucky to have him. It doesn't take the IQ required to catch the short bus to see his performances mid to late season were a little off and it had to be injury related.

Perceived potential greatness not hype when your 40-time competes with Chris Johnson's, you weight 215 pounds, and you have clearly shown that you have skills.

Everyone needs to chill the odds of this guy not being a very solid back are slim.

I like Brown but Chris Johnson would smoke him in a foot race. There's no shame in that, CJ could outrun anyone in the league right now.

True freshman came in and went an entire season with no fumbles. It amazes me on what you idiots can ***** about. I didn't see Julio Jones for Bama limping that much either but had a knee injury pretty much all season. Just because they aren't on the sidelines on crutches or looking like they are crippled doesn't mean they are not hurting.

if you didn't see him limping you weren't paying attention...he was limping and favoring the hip all season.

stuff like that will definitely affect how you play...

I pulled a groin muscle playing basketball and had to sit out for a little more than a month. When I started playing again I wasn't at 100%. I wasn't limping around, but I definitely wasn't 100% and it made a huge difference in how well I played. I was playing like I was in my late 30's not mid 20's.

I don't think anyone thinks Brown could out run him but the fact that he has been timed @sub-4.3 makes it a reasonable comparison. It also means that he is going to be really good.

It seems to me that most of your posts have a certain cockiness or arrogant way about them. I would think to be a moderator you would have to maintain a better demeanor and be a little friendlier to the members. Rather, you seem to attack, slander, and belittle every chance you get. Some people are born buttholes and others become that way from years of practice. Which one are you?

I'm the kind that thinks you read my posts wrong. It's the internet, don't be so serious. It was not meant as arrogant but the fact is the coaches and BB himself have said he was limited by his injury. Then someone says they don't think it's that bad because they saw him 5 times on tv. Call me crazy but I'll take the player/coach's word over anyone else's eval.
