Brown/Oku Comparison

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but I was thinking about it. We brought in the #1 RB, as well as the #1 APB. This is very similar to the likes of James Davis and C.J. Spiller. Davis was the 6th best RB in his class, and the year later, Spiller was the best APB. Both were good friends, and were highly touted, both separately and together.
Now, we have our own version of that Thunder and Lightning. My question is, do you see this as a legit comparison? Sure, I'd love for them to have more success than Spiller and Davis, but what do you think?

It's a very legit comparison with UT getting the edge because of the #1 overall player vs the #6 rb. All we can compare is what we know. #1RB & #1APB > #6RB & #1APB. I don't think either of these backs will flop. Toney Williams was the 5A Georgia Player of the Year too. Hardesty and Creer are both looking to keep their carries. The competition to tote the rock will be fierce.

I think that BB and DO will be one of the best tandems in ncaa football. JMO though As far as talent, they both have alot of it. BB having more of course. I've been watching alot of there vids on youtube and they have alot of talent but will they bring it to the college gridiron i believe they will.

Just imagine this, though. You've got the pro set, with Warren out left and Nuke out right. In the backfield you have Brown on the left and Oku on the right.
From here, you've got the crossing route with Warren, the flats with the backs, while still having the threat to run either way. And just when the safties bite, you've got Nuke there to burn the CB on the streak...

Nuke
Brown.
Oku..
and so on..
just off the top of the head, nothing serious.

i remeber a few years back auburn had a 2 tailback threat names were cadilace and the guy i cant remeber

From what I have seen on youtube. Oku and Brown are more similar than they are different. Brown seems to be a bit more physical but its not exactly thunder and lighting. I think it is closer to the Caddilac/Ronnie Brown backfiled.

I'm going out on a limb and predicting that BB will win a Heisman trophy at least once before he leaves UT.

UT hasn't had a decent running game since it ditched the FB and went to one-back sets. One reason may be that our FBs have not been good in recent years. I'd like to see the Vols go back to two-back sets--Williams as FB, maybe, and alternate Tbs. Could be very effective. Recall the long td run by the Vol FB in the 98 title game--I forget his name. We need to give defenses more to think about while at the same time keeping things simple. That's what two backs gives you.

That would be disgusting in about 2 years with Williams, Brown and Oku all in.


I think Brown is a much more physical runner than McFadden. I would say the Cadillac Williams/Ronnie Brown comparison was fair. Both Browns have tremendous speed for backs of their size.

Shawn Bryson was the FB in 98 and he caught a pass in the flat for a TD in the Na Cha.

He had a long run in the FL and KY games for TD's...know your history boy!
