In his retirement announcement, Rich Brooks talked about UK's current bowl streak (4), and somewhat apologized for not being able to end Tennessee's win streak over the Cats. Brooks need not feel bad, that streak will be intact for a while; UK had their best shot this year. Brooks is a classy guy, though.

For HIS sake, of course, I hope Kentucky doesn't beat Tennessee for a long time. You know, just so that doesn't make him feel like it was his fault.

Classy glad, really glad to see he could never beat UT, although he did try to scare us sometimes but never could win the game.

I thought he had a better chance last year, actually. Eventually they are gonna get lucky and beat us.

Hopefully it will be when I am too old to know about it LOL...I remember the last time they beat us...Oh yes...the misery, The pain..The damn body odor from UK fans raising their arms in the air in celebration..Having to sit near the UK fans section is like sitting near a homeless shelter...So I am thankful our team has spared us that misery for 25 years. :)

I wouldn't say it's his fault, I mean he didn't lose all 25.

But he did have probably the best shots in a long time. He had 4 really good opportunities; 2005 (though UK was pretty bad that year too), 2007, all they had to do was hit a chipshot FG in OT to win, last year UT was awful; I guess they were unlucky that they were playing in Fulmer's last game, and then this year if they let Cobb go wild in the wildcat at the end they probably win.

I know it's early but I'm gonna go ahead and call this post of the day!

Still don't know how we escaped Lexington in 2007 with a win.

That blocked field goal was incredible.

Great game! I was sitting in the middle of UK land around many boosters. I remember them all taking about how their kicker was passed up by us and now he's going to break our heart. Field goal was blocked! I then announced to the section that we don't recruit kickers that kick the ball so low. The hated me....and I loved it.

This year proved me to be a liar, but I'm still glad we got the win there.

That is awesome.

I was at that game in Lexington in 2007 as well.

After UT built up that big lead, I shouted over top a bunch of UK fans and asked my UT friend if we were going to drive to ATL the next week for the SEC Championship game.

Before the words were completely out of my mouth I knew I would probably regret it. In a matter of minutes, UK stormed back to tie it up.

On that field goal attempt in the 2 OT, I don't think my heart has ever sunk to such despair and risen to such jubilation in a matter of seconds. Then I remember being outraged that there was no penalty enforced against UK for a flagrant facemask on EB (I think) trying to return the blocked kick back for a score to win.

I was so cold during the game, but so glad I was there when we finally pulled it out.

Not his fault, we were spanking them before he arrived and we will continue on with more spankage...

.

They threw the flag on the facemask, I believe. The problem is that the penalty yards weren't enforced on the change of possession in overtime.

Which begs the question: If a player is streaking downfield after an interception or blocked kick in overtime, why not just have your walk-ons run off the sideline to make the tackle? You won't give up the game-winning score, and the refs will throw a flag that doesn't penalize you any yardage.

I think the refs have the authority to award an automatic TD in that situation.

Brooks does not need to apologize for anything, he was just carrying on an old Kentucky tradition. The tradition of getting beat by the Vols.
