I think we should look seriously into getting on of these two guys. I know a lot of people are backing off Mendenhall recently but i still think the guy would fit in perfectly here. Peterson is a bright, young offensive mind and won the Fiesta Bowl in his first year as head coach at BOISE STATE. I mean come on, who doesnt like that?

Peterson's offense would not work in the SEC. it looks like a Maryville High School game. Sure, it's fun to watch a team succeed with the statue of liberty play once a game...but don't you think coaches like Urban Meyer and Nick Saban would put an end to that junk pretty quickly? It's not like he'd still be playing teams like Colorado State

Peterson is a Scientologist. Would one of those whack jobs really fit in Knoxville?

Great coach, but this seems like some unnecessary baggage!

I did not know that...I think that I can more easily write him off now...

...Tom Cruise for Offensive Coordinator?

Yeah, thats all we need is a bunch of players having to wear red stings on their wrist. Really though, we fire a coach who won 75% of his games and your wanting a flavor of the month coach...We need a proven coach who is ready to compete in the nations toughest conference.

I have reservations regarding both mostly as they have indicated how they feel and where they want to be, especially Mendenhall who seems a perfect fit at BYU. Whoever comes to Knoxville has to really want this position and not look back with regrets.

As to a mans religion ... it matters little to me IF he can make the adjustments. I am not a CBP fanatic, but when you mention his name, what jumps into your mind? Coach or Judaism? In mine...coach, coach, coach.

Personally my somewhat realistic choice (that means there is a realistic chance we can land him) is Butch Davis. If we could get a Gruden, Carroll, or Cowher...I would pinch myself 40 times to make sure I was not dreaming, but I don't see it as a realistic option.

I'd tend to go along with you there, but going into some of these recruit's homes and visting with some Southern baptist moms and dads would be a disadvantage when you say you don't believe in God. Right or wrong.

Peterson inherited a program that had already been turned around and was going in the right direction, not sure how he would handle a program like UT that's been declining.

I think I like Bronco a little bit better, not sure he can recruit well enough to compete in the SEC though.

You're right, it certainly doesn't hurt. But I don't think Urban Meyer does. Or atleast I got that idea when the news come out about Tebow trying to talk to his coach about his faith.

I'm guessing Urban is Catholic since it is a papal name. Might be the reason Tebow wanted to talk religion with him.

What would catholic matter? I'm not sure what denomination Tebow is but more than likely they believe Catholics still believe the same stuff they just have a different way about it.

I don't know if he's the man for the job or not, but you gotta love a name like Bronco Mendenhall for a football coach.

I dont know about you guys but i would still love someone like Petersen or Mendenhall as our coach. I think if we don't get someone like Leach, Davis, or Kiffin than Hamilton should definitely strongly consider Mendenhall or Petersen.

Peterson's offense is just what we need at UT. It would have been nice to seen some sort of trick play, like a fake punt or a reverse or even the Statue of Liberty play. With the way or offense plays, heck give the defense a rest, some times. Urban Meyer came from the same conference.....and look what he's done.

Is this what its come to? God please give us a coach now so we dont have to listen to more, is he a scientoligist, is he a mormon, does he cuss his mama. :banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:

Peterson would fit in better in Seattle or Syracuse than the SEC.

And Judaism is not in the same ballpark as scientology.

More people should remember this.

Peterson did not inherit he built it. He joined Boise in 2002 as OC in 2001 they went 8-4. The next 4 yrs with Peterson as OC 45-7. With Peterson as HC his record is 32-3 the past 3 yrs. Before you think it was the previous coach and not him. Dan Hawkins the previous coach is coaching Colorado Buffaloes now with a 3 yr record of 12-21.
