I have to question the education of a Vol who doesn't know the answer to that question...

Are you talking about having some leadership, stronger personalities and defensive guys who lead by example? If not, then never mind.

So now Vol fans who aren't intimately familiar with who Swamp Rat and Hacksaw are aren't true fans?

Being a Vol fan is almost as hard as getting a Taxi License in Manhattan. So much freakin' orange tape.

This. I hadn't heard him in a couple of years. Matter of fact, I haven't even heard him as a guest on a show in quite some time.

This should help you....from the VolFan by-laws.

The Volunteer caste system has been in use for many years. Still today the values of the caste system are held strongly. It has kept a sense of order, and peace among the fans. There are five different levels of the system: Guru, Elite, Superior, Vol Fan, and NegaVols. Within each of these categories are the actual "castes", within which people are born, marry, and die. They all have their own place among each other and accept that it is the way to keep Volnation from disintegrating to chaos. This system has worked well for Vol Fans worldwide and still has a major role in present day VolNation.

Does anyone here know who I'm talking about?

I do!! Dewey Warren "the swamp rat" & jack Reynolds "hacksaw". Warren got his nickname because he was always fishing and giggin frogs down in the swamps (correct me if I'm wrong) and Reynolds got his nickname because after a lose to Alabama (correct me if I'm wrong) he cut his car in half!!

I remember a book that someone that had written some years back called swamp rat. It was about Dewey warren and other UT Qb's
That they stole from Alabama I think that's right lol

You're half right on Reynolds. He cut his car ('53 Chevy) in half after losing to Ole Miss (38-0). A great Vol history book to read is "The Swamp Rat". It talks about Warren and a lot of the other players since the beginning of Volunteer football.

A little trivia: Did you know that in the 1930's the Vols did not allow a single point scored against them the entire season. I'm not sure what year it was. They only played about 8 games back then, but that's quite an accomplishment. I don't believe any other Div 1 school has done that.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I remember seeing that book when I was a kid but I never did buy it I wish I would had now
