Bring back Phil!

CPF had 17 linemen in 9 years get drafted to the NFL while he was the line coach. I would gladly take some of that back today!

Who was the head coach during those 9 years? The HC gets the credit or blame for what happens during his tenure

That won't happen. But I would like to see him in some sort of office role with the program. The guy actually loves Tennessee and it's not about a paycheck to him and he seems to have a good relationship with Butch.

You are naive if you think it is not about the paycheck for CPF.

Man seriously.
It's not speculation that Hamilton liked Fulmer.
In this case, it was public outcry that pushed the issue.

I have no problems with you but I am sure there are others here that could show examples of how those events transpired. It was public pressure in this case.

Hamilton probably would've never landed the AD job if Fulmer hadn't pushed UT to hire him.

For OL coach! He hasn't taken another HC position because he loves TN and nowhere else.

We could use his OL knowledge and what OL recruit wouldn't want to play for Phillip Fulmer?

Coach Fulmer is RETIRED and he is not going to be coaching football anywhere in the future. These are pointless requests...

Fulmer does consulting now. There was a time he might have coached again, but I believe that time has passed. He's still a very intelligent and valuable expert on the ins and outs of a football organization. He's done quite a lot for ETSU in helping them get their football program back up and running the past few years.

It's a nice gesture to want him back in UT's program. Perhaps someday he will be involved in the UT Athletic department again, but I don't believe it will be in any significant role or capacity. But he may just as well continue consulting for the remainder of his days.

As for some of the negative comments about Phil. The mess in 2007-08 was not entirely his doing. There were politics involved inside the program, not to mention some folks on the board that were at odds. I'm not going to say Phil shouldn't have been let go, but certain individuals made some horrible decisions, not including the unknown of Phil's replacement. Though I must say, there's never a guarantee when you replace a HOF coach. We had a lot of bad luck over those 5 years and further bad decisions.

Fortunately, things are looking bright now...

All that's over! The past! Let it alone or it will bite you! Phil had his chance done well in the beginning! Quit recruiting .. Downhill from there.. Let's all move on and get behind our Vols and Butch..

Please Dear God...........Make it Stop!

i wouldnt mind him back in some role but i get the feeling that it would be like having my ex wife come back as the cook

My ex would poison my ass,,,,,no thanks. UT is moving, has moved in a new direction. Love CPF, much respect for the man and what he accomplished at UT but as the world turns, the football program at UT is turning in the right direction without CPF. Better to leave CBJ do things his way without distraction.
