Who? They all sucked. None of them gave any effort. Gonna turn all of em loose? Fine with me since there aren’t any that you can win with in this conference. But Rice is dead wrong if he’s gonna put the last 2 weeks on just a handful of players who didn’t wanna practice any more. The entire 85 man roster, all players 1-85, were absolutely atrocious the last 2 weeks.

Attitude reflects leadership--CAP' N. And there's NOT ONE upperclassmen who is a leader on that team....

And those upperclassmen have to OWN their own performances on the field.

I say this for reference only and am in no way suggesting a similar result... but Saban's first Bama team appeared to get worse rather than better. He ended up purging a bunch of players before the 2nd year iirc.
Lol, no

Actually, Pruitt has repeatedly said coaching needs to be better. It has been one of the refreshing things during his tenure.

Yet he talks about replacing the players with better recruits but doesn’t say a thing about replacing the coaches. That tells me he thinks one of them is the real problem and he’s just saying the other b/c he knows it’s what he’s supposed to say, not how he really feels

I was saying Pruitt should have just taken the blame for the games and have said nothing at all publicly about players not buying in. It only makes things worse. Players can get you in many different ways. If the players truly did that.

You cannot just bench 10-15 starters with 2 games left in the season. If you read the whole Twitter feed of Rice’s, you would understand that the players started loafing after the KY game because they did not want to go to a bowl and practice in December because they know they are gone after the season.
I am sorry we lost today, but Pruitt is cleaning house. He gave everyone the benefit of the doubt this year, but IMO the purge has begun. He knows what he is doing and BTW I was not a supporter of his hire until now.

Curious why getting the doors blown off by vandy moved you into Pruitt’s corner.

Agree, Pruitt was too out spoken during the year regrading players he thought were slackers. Should have taken care of player situations internally...Neyland stairs generally serve to get players back on track. I am sure several players just said f-it the last 2 games.

The fans were the ones screaming on the message boards to start the freshman. We didn't care because we hadn't seen much out of the starters. We didn't care until it was proven that they had no businesses playing. You have to prove it to the fans. They're not stupid. They can see. You may disagree with some but they SEE

He's a truth-teller! That's something that a bunch of you PC liberal, millennial wusses just can't understand.
And he's recruiting. Those elite HS players actually LIKE honesty in a coach, and not just a bunch of rah-rah crap!

CJP KNOWS how he has to get his OWN RECRUITS...guys who will submit to coaching and not going crying to mama every time coach chews his azz out for poor effort and performance. Those kind of guys become CHAMPIONS because they will do ANYTHING and pay any price to get BETTER!

And the "players who can get you in many different ways" don't exist on teams like Clemson and Alabama because the Head Coach has run their butts off!

I hope CJP cleans the excrement out this off-season.

NO--he wasn't! Those mules were never gonna win because of their own lack of ability. No point in trying to pacify their poor little hearts and continue to allow them to play SOFT. And if they really did quit on CJP--they're just losers anyway.

Pruitt is full of it! They don't believe in him which is leading to the lack of effort.

Mike I simply am saying he could have moved players out without calling them out publicly. Especially if he needed them for that one year and I'll let it go at that.

The most laughable part of that post is saying anyone on this team ever played "lights out'. It just didn't happen. We can spin like hell beating a 7-5 Auburn team, but lights out isn't in this bunch.

After sitting behind the bench tonite. I could believe this with about the same level of effort we played with tonite. Little to none.

Haha this! I get people who say "we have to wait and see if he can coach". But those who say "oh hell yeah, this is our guy" I just don't get. What about this season makes you wanna say "give me more of these repeated a$$ whoopins"??

It's just true....he lost his last 4 regular season games. And Louisiana-Monroe was before the Auburn game.

Has nothing to do with game. It is the process of giving players a chance, but when they do not give their best effort you move on. We need players to compete for playing time. Players to push one another.
He used this year to set a standard. Obviously many are not willing to meet that standard so it is time to move on for some of them and bring in players who will give their all for Tennessee.

He never called any out by name in interviews. But, did talk about performance and lack of execution.

Bad mouthing them publicly and not manning up and taking the blame season one was Pruitts mistake. That was a major fail regardless of whether it was true or not.

He never bad-mouthed them. He said that we're an elite program, but that we don't have an elite team. He said that we'll only get better through recruiting. He said that they didn't even know how to practice, but that they had learned and were making a great effort to get better in practice. He has said that we continue to make many mistakes that are hard to overcome. He said that you cannot be a good defense when you don't win your 1-on-1 assignments. He took responsibility for every loss himself. He said that Mizzou outplayed us and out-coached us.

Just how in the hell can you change all of those statements of facts into CJP throwing all of the players under the bus? f

Good grief--you guys just pick an excuse and run with it instead of actually LISTENING and WATCHING the games. PATHETIC!

Saban’s first Bama team never lost a game by more than 7 points. That included close losses to eventual national champions LSU and #2 UGA. That shows they were well coached and fought hard, even after losses and never gave up.

This tweet shows that players have quit on Pruitt. After listening to him bad mouth them on camera every chance he got they finally decided to say “screw this” and quit trying. It’s Pruitt’s job to get this team playing their best. Instead he just talks about how we won’t be good until we get better players.
Did Saban ever bad-mouth his players during his first season?
