He should be honored someone would come see or care about that ****** program. In the past player would be like "We have to play better" kids these days want participation trophies.

Edit: I would not want to play against him after he spent a season under a Kiffin, Leach, or Mullen type. Someone that will accept the occasional dud because they know the fireworks will be worth it.

This should be even more of a reason fans should reconsider how they spend their funds next year. I could take that BS from Pruitt but not a player. Especially one who's as fragile a Maurer. If some curse at this soft dude he'll have a mental relapse

I think most people understand what he was trying to do. I just don’t think some people understand the abundance of criticism that comes with a losing team with social media. The average person messes up at his/her job and only hears it from their boss. One person. And they go home fuming mad and vent for hours to a significant other and/or friend. A college/professional athlete messes up and, hears it from his boss as well but goes home and gets it from his thousands of followers as well. So to sit here and say “he should be more mature” or “he should be punished” is speaking out of ignorance of something we’ve never experienced as well as holding a 19 year old kid to a higher standard then we hold ourselves as adults. Everyone has a limit.

Agreed! Many of the posters are so classless and vindictive - penning personal attacks on kids trying to play ball. I can understand criticizing the coaches, game plan, execution, etc - but the personal attacks on the players speak volumes about the posters who are basically a bunch of keyboard cowards... Pretty weak in the character department.

Then please tell us why a player should be dismissed for this. He broke no laws, doesn’t get in trouble off the field, supported his coach and team in spite of his mishandling and has been the ULTIMATE teammate through it all. Which in fact was the very nature of tweet to begin with.

Seeing too many sports consumers calling themselves fans. Lots of these folks claim the protections of free speech when they throw it out there, but take exception when somebody throws it back.

LoL, the NegaVols come out in full force when the players call them out. They are the absolute worst faction in all of college football. They need to be culled from the program.

You're part of the problem, you're one of the biggest NegaVols there is on here. You guys just really don't have a clue. Tennessee has lost its "class" thanks to the NegaVol crowd as most of them have very little class.

Well, great judger of all, I have never nor would I ever tweet a player. And I'm sorry you think being critical of program decisions and wanting to be competitive again is classless. I don't understand settling for terrible, but I guess that's just the difference between us.

It does matter. The lads are listening.

Be unhappy at a bad product, sure, but accept responsibility for HOW you show your unhappiness.

Stop the hate. Stop the pettiness. Grow up. Be mature. Provide critical observation and analysis, sure, of both coaches and players, but do it as if you were criticizing a loved one. Be measured and respectful in your criticism. Be fair.

The youth of our program are watching and considering carefully every word you say.

If you think he's referring to an old fashioned message board, you're stunningly out of touch. These kids use social media. They don't understand the concept of a discussion board. He sees Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram. Throw in some Reddit and Discord. That's what he's referring to.

That's not true, Vandy still has a team with little to no fans. So there is precedent.

For the one millionth time, nobody is settling and nobody blames being critical of the program, it's the fact that you have zero tact and zero class when you do it, you can't buy class and our NegaVols could care less.
