JG's growth has already been stunted. Now if your talking about Maurer playing against Georgia is NOT going to break this young man's confidence, not a chance. JG will need to transfer down one or 2 levels if he can find a team that will take him for a single year of eligibility. He bombed with one of the worse D-1 teams and D-3 might be a fresh start if indeed he wants to play his last season. Tough kid just not a competitive savvy college qb. Kudos to Pruitt and Chaney to move on to the future with Maurer.

Yup... he showed that tendency to sling it when he got boxed in... that is a dangerous decision to make. Hoping the coaches got that under control. Otherwise, turn his azz loose and lets see some ball.

I hope Maurer starts and plays well, we haven't a snow balls chance of winning Saturday, but if Maurer plays well, we'll be on the road to developing a QB that isn't second rate. Maurer may have what it takes to be a SEC QB, and we are in dire need of one for next season.

That's for coaches to determine. But not being mentally ready can lead to injury in this league quickly. Taking blind side hits because you are unaware of what is about to come would be one sign.

I admit I have been off the grid a bit, and didn't really follow summer practice.

So, can anyone with insight tell me what's up with the RS (iirc) Freshman Shrout. Shouldn't he be 2nd string and more advanced/further along at this point? Pretty well-lauded coming out of HS.

Is it system/Maurer fits better? Is it his consistency? Is it that he just hasn't progressed as much as he should or we thought he might? Insights, info?
