Brian Maurer may be gone?

🤣😂.... uhhhh, no.

In January 2019, VN had a whole thread about how T Lawrence wanted to come to Tennessee.

Yes.

Trevor has always been high on Tennessee, pretty much worshipped Peyton Manning growing up.

He was gift wrapped to play for Tennessee until Butch decided he didn’t fit his offense and told him that he wouldn’t play a down in the SEC.

Butch went after Emory Jones instead and didn’t land him either.

Two faced individual who bought into his own hype.

That’s because it took real talent to get in a recording studio back in “those days.” Now practically anyone can book a studio session, hence why music isn’t what it was.
Yep, Can’t seem to get the 70s -80s bands out of your mind, but I could not tell you a single artist today with any lasting impressions.

Okay thanks.
So it seems like with Heupel's blessing, that Maurer is just taking a moment to step away. Or, he's planning his next move. Since he's 4th on the depth chart he can afford that, truthfully.

Still wish, he would stop bringing attention to himself. But he honestly can't help it it seems.

Truth is he needs to go to a college where they absolutely need a QB badly. probably G5 school.
This mental health thing is obviously very real with him...unfortunately it does not give ANY head coach a sense of confidence in him.

Pruitt wasn't the best Head Coach for anyone. And especially for a kid like Maurer.
However, Heupel is not Pruitt and knows QBs in and out. And he still put him at 4th.

Maurer needs to go to a much less pressure packed situation...and just play ball.
Then he can use his success to raise the right type of awareness about mental health, and hell even makes some money through NIL with various companies. But he has to be able to have an opportunity to play so he can come from a position of strength and fame.

It's not happening at UT even he stays. Kid needs a new start.

In every decade, 90% of what was committed to tape in the studio was crap. It was expensive crap, but crap nonetheless. Now the barrier to entry is much lower for recording so you have even more crap being produced. The talent is still out there, just more diluted.

The music you enjoyed during your formative years will resonate for a lifetime. It's like that for everyone. You do see a lot of kids reaching back to find something to connect with now. Go to the mall and you'll see the Rolling Stones, The Clash, Nirvana, etc emblazoned across the t-shirts of teens.

In January 2019, VN had a whole thread about how T Lawrence wanted to come to Tennessee.
That’s a POSTER citing a THREAD. How about an actual interview?
It’s been well documented that Trevor Lawrence liked Tennessee early on during his college recruitment and he too discussed the Volunteers on Saturday during his latest CFP media availability.

“I was a Tennessee fan. My mom’s family is from Tennessee. So growing up that’s the only thing I really knew was Tennessee football,” Lawrence said. “Watch them all the time. I think when I got middle school or high school kind of started just I guess when I got offers and stuff I kind of quit being a fan.”

Similar to Etienne’s comment, Lawrence noted that once he started visiting Butch Jones’ Tennessee program during his recruitment, his interest in the Volunteer program began to wane.

What could have been: Several of Clemson’s star players discuss their interest in Tennessee before signing with Tigers

You know it is possible that all of those hits he's taken to his head have caused some of these issues. We really don't know how many hits he's taken playing over years...even pre high school. I hope the best for him...long term health is far more important than short term fame.

As much as I like Brian...Pruitt burned him badly...you could tell when the comments were about trusting and learning to trust the staff...at this point, IMO it would be best to xfr to a new school...maybe even closer to home in FLA...Miami, FSU, maybe even the Gators...IDK. but he definitely needs a change of environment

Bro, the Gators are not taking him after all his troubles at Tennessee. C'mon, that's not realistic. Florida doesn't take our 4th string QB on their squad.

You act like he’s been in trouble his entire time when in fact he’s NEVER been in “trouble” until now. He came out about mental health issues in support of those dealing with it and people have ran with it every since as if he’s a head case when that couldn’t be father from the truth. Football is his life and if you don’t understand that, then you couldn’t begin to fully understand what it’s like to have something you love that much taken from you. The time line he was referring to in his original post a year ago was when Pruitt benched him vs UK for no particular reason that warranted benching. The next time is now. Both times were after being told he wouldn’t be given an opportunity. Don’t underestimate a kid that loves football that much. Simply put, he just needs to learn to combine “off the field” leadership with his already proven “on the field” leadership. It’s all simple maturity.

I will comfortably say that Pruitt made things worse for Brian. But I won't say Brian is "ruined ", nor will I put it all at Pruitt's feet.

I remember Brian being interviewed at the Elite 11, and how he flat out said he never wanted his own father to be in his life.

The boy obviously has trust issues with men. And that's from his father being no good and him being constantly surrounded by women growing up. This was before Pruitt. And Pruitt just fed that underlying issue.

He's well liked by his teammates, but he formed a "victim " identity here at UT. It wasn't intentional. The posts about "his dream being taken"...no Brian. You weren't as good as the other 3 in practice.
Where's the accountability? And then when you start bringing up "mental health" it takes that accountability away in some ways. It makes him "The Victim " how can he ever be "The Hero" (QB) if he's always the one at a disadvantage? That could never be the leader of THIS program.

But that's all that means.
It doesn't mean he won't become an immensely successful MAN in the real world one day. Or that he won't become a great QB somewhere else.

Even if,
Bailey does transfer. Hooker leaves because this is last season? Milton throws for 4,000 yards 40 tds and goes 10th overall in the NFL draft...it doesn't matter.
Heupel will get more transfers AND sign two HS qbs for next season.

So yeah. Then young man truly needs a new start somewhere else.

This isn’t Hooker last season of eligibility…if that’s what that sentence meant.

Do you know when he will announce his plans? I hope he takes plenty of time to think and talk them through with those who have his interests at heart.

I’m hoping he stays here for this academic year to just be a student and cram some more credits on his transcript, but it’s certainly not my vote, nor anyone else’s either.

Best wishes for him, whatever he does. He has guts.

For those who are questioning Maurers mental make up don't forget this about Hooker

"Hooker became too cold to re-enter the team's loss to Clemson on Dec. 5, leaving the Hokies to turn to Knox Kadum after Braxton Burmeister was injured. ... A source indicated the team had lost a measure of confidence in Hooker after his inability to play through the cold against Clemson.Dec 17, 2020"

Can't just let that go

I think there's quite a large difference in meaning between having "troubles" and being "in trouble." So, no, I don't "act" anything like what you just said, nor did I intend to communicate anything whatsoever along the lines of what you wrote in your reply.

I wonder, do you even see how bruised up you are? You've been so pummeled that now you swipe and lash out at everyone who gets near you--even when a comment isn't directed to you at all. You bear Brian Maurer's burdens on your own shoulders. Hope you get some rest from all of this. VN has been hard on you, 1vol8. I genuinely hope good things for you.

I’m just pointing out the nature his original post. He’s even said the exact same thing every time he’s been asked about it and it seems to fall on deaf ears. He’s not as “troubled” as the narrative he created by reaching out to those who are. This is just a classic example of “no good deed goes unpunished”.
