Saying they "couldn't" implies that they could not have regained the job. I would have to see some kind of proof supporting that. Burmeister in particular at VT was/is vulnerable. Hooker very easily could have ended up the starter there.Thank you for the info. Statement still true, maybe you would rather I said “would no longer be starting qb”, rather than “couldn’t”, but they lost their starter positions for whatever reason, so couldn’t be the starter, and left.
McNamara might have been vulnerable but I do not believe Milton was likely to get the coaching or get his confidence where it needed to be while still at Michigan. He needed a change of scenery for sure.
FWIW, I said the same thing about JG around and after his 2nd year starting. Sometimes there's just too much emotional baggage tied to a place or organization for someone to recover. If I had to guess, I'd say that the trust was broken between Hooker and the VT staff. Burmeister's numbers and results weren't all that good.
