Brian Maurer may be gone?

Thank you for the info. Statement still true, maybe you would rather I said “would no longer be starting qb”, rather than “couldn’t”, but they lost their starter positions for whatever reason, so couldn’t be the starter, and left.
Saying they "couldn't" implies that they could not have regained the job. I would have to see some kind of proof supporting that. Burmeister in particular at VT was/is vulnerable. Hooker very easily could have ended up the starter there.

McNamara might have been vulnerable but I do not believe Milton was likely to get the coaching or get his confidence where it needed to be while still at Michigan. He needed a change of scenery for sure.

FWIW, I said the same thing about JG around and after his 2nd year starting. Sometimes there's just too much emotional baggage tied to a place or organization for someone to recover. If I had to guess, I'd say that the trust was broken between Hooker and the VT staff. Burmeister's numbers and results weren't all that good.

Brian's dad is on Volnation! Look I don't think anyone is personally attacking the guy, and for the most part many on here have been rooting for the guy and really like him. The issue that most are pointing out is the Tweet that this board is about. Saying that the coaches "took his dream away" - dude, nothing is given, it is earned. That rubbed fans the wrong way.

Not my son, but he is however someone that should have earned our respect for what he put up with. The problem with your understanding of other "fans" is that is not how they replied. They replied by attacking him personally. So in taking up for a college age kid that has been insulted by the fans that once cheered him on (or should have) must be his Dad. In reality, I am a decent human being that reads comments like you and other "fans" that bang on kids who aren't exactly the model they think they should be. Truth is Brian Mauer has more to him then you do, he put more on the line than you did, he sacrificed more than you did, he has competed more than you have and he is a tad frustrated. So give the young man a break and thank him for what he tried to do and his love of all things orange. By the way, if I was your Dad you would have done better.

Not sure where my criticism is, I only stated facts. But I bet you that he couldn't guide a raft with (6) 300lb Lineman down a Class V Whitewater river......dont criticize that which you or him are incapable of doing......

I won't criticize that statement because I do not understand. In my defense it is batcrap crazy!

Clearly you have a hard time with facetious statements, but thats ok. Are you saying I am batcrap crazy or that my statement was batcrap crazy or your defense was batcrap crazy?

I wasn't "saying" anything I was writing that your statement was batcrap crazy, but if you would like to to take it that you are as well, I'm fine with that.

I don’t understand the 4 days part . He had film on him , he went through spring practice , summer workouts , film room time , and they’ve been watching him since they got here . Instead of “ they took my dream” maybe it should be “ I will work harder to accomplish my dream” . I get that he’s upset , but I just watched a great qb video again last night where he said “ they may have been more talented , but nobody out prepared me “ . I like the kid I always did , but it’s not a they thing , it’s a we thing .
“they may have been more talented , but nobody out prepared me “
I believe Peyton said that. But yeah, blaming the staff for taking away his dream is immature.

I like your style! Look Bob, I was disappointed that Maurer threw in the towel so early in Fall Camp, I always thought he was a motivated gamer. I have seen so many young people these days throw in the towel and not fight for what they want. Maurers dream wasn't taken away from him by UT, his practice performance dictated what his dream would be and the dream of being the starting QB at UT looks like it wont come to fruition. I hope he lands on a team that he gets immediate playing time, I really do.

who was so great in practice the last couple seasons ?
JG. That's not good...neither QB beside HB has had those mistakes or trouble making side line throws, as was reported....he has an avg arm at best...doesn't mean he can't improve...just not as much as those that a gifted with cannons...and when your avg facing above avg arm. There is less room for error..

Sorry to see the guy go. He provided some spark at key times for our team - just wish the last coaching staff would have recognized the talent available sooner.

That said, it seems that he doesn't mesh well with the current staff philosophy or style so at least they are parting early.
Good luck young man.

You implied the word “ever”. Maybe the players did, too, or not, but whatever was said to them led them to believe they would not be the starting qb, else they would probably not have left their previous team and school.
