This dude is a massive a hole. Questions about his offense are legitimate. Yes, lsu won but only because lagway gave them the victory.
How can he be in the sec for 4 years and not expect scrutiny.
I talk to McRib and her brother about it a lot. Kelly has SO MUCH money still due on his contract. I am not sure they can or will. They are willing to tolerate a lot of jackassery as long as wins materialize. That fan base kept Les Miles as HC running a 1970s offense for a long time. Now that I think about it more, I don't know if I've ever seen the HC of a top 5 team on shakier ground than Kelly. His first question after a win is about how bad the offense it, and then to make matters worse he snaps at the reporter who asked it.
If they end up missing the CFP, I really do think they might bite the bullet and buy him out.
LSU has a ton of money (not Texas or Texas A&M money, but significant) and I bet would at least strongly consider it if he doesn't make it. They did keep Les around, but he also had won a title and played for another. I know the drop off was pretty dramatic for O, but they cut him loose just a year and a half after winning a title plus he was basically the living embodiment of their fanbase.I talk to McRib and her brother about it a lot. We will see.
Coaches this season who look like they are ready to take a bigger job. I have:
Golesh
GT coach
Clark Lea.
There is a lot I agree with in your post. The notion of tolerance of the HC as long as they are winning is dead on. They don't like the man. And they will cut him loose quickly when they think he is under performing. But the money isn't infinite in BR.LSU has a ton of money (not Texas or Texas A&M money, but significant) and I bet would at least strongly consider it if he doesn't make it. The thing with Kelly is that I just get the distinct impression that he's never been embraced there by their people. Even if he won a title, their fans would obviously love it but I don't think they'd love him. He's such a weird cultural fit there; he's originally from Boston and had exclusively coached for northern schools, I don't think they respect what he did at ND (even though they should), he has a contrived, "corporate" demeanor, and just generally comes off like an a-hole. I think because of all of that he has a higher bar to get over to be considered successful by their people than O or Les did.
If they miss the CFP, then that would mean that they're dropping 2 (if they had a really bad loss) or 3 games. When you move it from the abstract to specific losses it sounds worse...if they lost to, say, Ole Miss, A&M, and Alabama or OU and missed the CFP, they'll absolutely be enraged enough to start talking about gathering up the money for the buyout. Or if they lost to a good team and then also Vandy or Arkansas.
Same. Nuss does not impress so far.I'm looking at Nussmeier, not Kelly. Kelly has had good O consistently. His problem was always been discipline and that sort of thing.
Nussmeier has a cannon, but he's running the same O as Jayden Daniels, and one of them was a Heisman, and the other guy has put up 30 points 2x in the last 11 games. Nussmeier is supposed to be the #1 prospect. I don't see it.

He's got the talent. I agree. But something is off...like either they don't trust him or he isn't confident. Frustrates McRib.I get why the scouts like him. The arm talent is special. That throw he made against Clemson that didn't count as a TD (but should have) was so f-ing money in a clutch situation. But ultimately, if you can't be a run threat in the NFL (yellow flag), and you aren't putting up a bunch of points at LSU (at least an orange flag), I'm not comfortable taking you in the top 10.
