Brian Kelly (Cincinnati)

No one has done a thing to prove me wrong-just meanless drool like most of your posts

Here's proving you wrong. He is a very good recruiter:

Recruiting classes prior to Kelly:
2005- 70th
2006- 70th
2007- 80th (he tried to slavage this one since he came in with 1 month left, but it was worse before he came at the end of the year.

Kelly's recruiting classes:
2008- 51st
2009- 42nd (and rising)

That's from Scout.com

In conclusion, Kelly has definately made huge leaps from his predecessors at Cincinnati, jumping almost 30 spots in the rankings!

So, everyone should not be worried about his recruiting. (Jewwy)

We haven't had to. Teams and coaches like Ball St. and Brady Hoke have done that for us. "But Ball St. is a MAC team." Yeah, the same MAC where Urban Meyer lost 5 conference games in his two seasons at Bowling Green. If recruiting classes are the Holy Grail of coaching, then please explain how a team chock full of recruiting stars can barely beat MAC team Northern Illinois while a fellow MAC team with a total of 6 3-star recruits beat the living crap out of them. Closer to home, our own nearly departed CPF has already shot the **** out of the recruiting stars argument.

BTW, nice spelling job, genius.

If you look through my post I have quoted so many statistical facts it is actually wearing my down, there are about 5 guys on this board who no matter what will just come back and say Kelly is their man crush. Worse guys like you keeping calling for facts when you know I provided them, but you choose to live in ignorance. It is not a debate it is circle jerk for a few of you getting excited about Kelly.

Yeah, it must be exhausting searching for "facts" to cherry-pick in support of a fallacious argument. I have no man-crush on Kelly and there is more than one candidate that I think would be a good hire, but neither do I have a one-boy vendetta against any coach I don't want to see headed this way. Kelly has garnered the respect of peers, players, and administrators. I have yet to see anything negative said by anyone who actually knows the man (quotes, not second-hand rumors). I believe the man has the potential to succeed at UT, and it's going to take more than one lone voice crying out in the wilderness (well, more like an annoying mosquito buzzing around the room) with "No stars! No stars! The Emperor has no stars!" to make me dubious about his hiring.

I think what everyone is trying to get at is, where is this year's Saban or Meyer? Point to him, because I am looking at the candidates for the job and I see no one with stats that are superior to Kelly. That guy just isn't out there this year. We have to trust the guys above us to make a good decision on a guy who isn't quite as proven as we would like. And if they fail at it, we'll get rid of them just as we did Fulmer.

I think my bottom line is this. Coach Fulmer was let go after he made the SEC champ game last year(backed into it, yes). If we are comparing wins to losses
Fulmer did pretty damn good (im not a Fulmer supporter). The problem was, we lost to Ala, Fla, LSU, UGA. The teams we NEED to beat.
Now, that being said, is Kelly the guy to beat these teams? because thats the reason Fulmer was let go.
I hope you guys are right and who knows, maybe he is the guy, maybe he isnt. Just not the "Splash" that I , personally, was hoping for.
And with that....Im off to work...meh.

Don't you go proving Chewwy wrong now. He is a genius and his family donates thousands of dollars.

Yeah :). And for the record, BK is not even one of my top 5 choices for coach (and that list doesn't include reaches like Davis, Cowher or Gruden). So, no I don't love Brian Kelly... Just stating the facts.

Kelly is the realistic choice.

It would be much easier to offer Kelly a contract Cincinnati cannot counter, then offering Leach one.

Leach would be fun for a few years, no doubt. if nothing else, his pres confferences the weeks of FL, BAma nd GA games would be something to see.

"Nick Saban? who's that?"

"Urban Meyer? Never heard of him"

"Mark Richt......he's at Georgia Tech, right? Do we play them this year?"

win, and it just makes it even better.

Lose, and that could get real old, real fast........but i can understand why anyone would would want leach........he's the anti fulmer..........the two are on opposite ends of the spectrum, and i can honestly say that the pucker factor that seemed so high on those FL, GA and BAma Saturdays would be as close to zero as they ever have been with him on the sidelines.........

I believe Kelly would make a fine coach and would be happy if we get him.

However, I watched his press conference after the EKU game on youtube. Please let him practice not saying "uh" and "uhm". I couldn't stand to listen to his pressers if he does that all the time. That has nothing to do with his ability to coach, but I would like to be able to listen to him without pulling my few remaining hair out, haha.

Who do you like then?

I see many people speaking of Kelly, but realistically Mike Leach is a better choice being UK's Oc for two years his team passed for more than 8,000 yards and under Bob Stoops at Ou he put their passing game back on the map and 9 10 wins seasons at Texas tech is also something not to Discredit. Texas tech has the Texas left overs as well.

Nine 10 win seasons? Wow you Leach fans really do shoot crystal meth.

I might not be totally on my mark but he's a better choice than Brian kelly anyday. IMO I think there are better choices than Leach. BUT I wouldnt discredit the guy cause he's a weirdo or whatever else llok at his numbers.
