Cut me some slack . . . I've merged approximately 853 threads tonight and when I merged this one and retitled it, I was concentrating on how many N's I was supposed to have. :)

I'll continue to be on this guys bandwagon. UC is currently down to their 3rd string qb and still challenging for the Big East title. They just beat West Virginia in Morgantown. I'm 100% sure that he has less talent to work with and equally as sure that WVU would roll us by at least 2 touchdowns.

I'm surprised his name has not been mentioned more than it has.

No one is mentioning Kelly on here and I think he would be a much better choice than some of the people being heavily discussed ie Kiffin and Brewster....Kelly is a taskmaster is respected by his players, is a good recruiter, and he wins... any thoughts. Yesterday was an alltime low for Tennessee football!!

do you ever get the feeling that Hamilton will pick someone completely out of left field and we will all say wtf?

Brian Kelly is a fine coach. If he came to Rocky Top, I think you'd all be very pleased with the results.

Out of Kiffin, Leach, Brewster and to a certain extent Butch Davis, Brian Kelly is the one that has a more impressive resume. He's been to multiple schools in two divisions of fooball. He won 2 national championships at Grand Valley State, won the MAC champonship in CMU in his 2nd or 3rd season there, and is on the verge of winning a Big East title by shuffling in 4 qb's this season.

We can't even beat Wyoming and UCLA with any of the guys we have right now...

I don't really have a good reason for this, but I have a feeling we may all be underwhelmed with the hire. People are all throwing out huge names, but I think the chances of getting a Gruden or a Davis are small. Some of those names out there are scary, and could lead nowhere, IMO.

Kiffin scares me... Even Ed Orgeron looked like a genius at USC. Cowher and Gruden would cost $4-5 million to bring here at least...

Hamilton could pay Kelly $2-2.5 million and be set.

Kiffin and any of these other "big name" coaches people want are just confection and glamour/glitz to help in recruiting. At this point, we've seen what great recruiting can look like if it isn't well coached. Let's take a chance on a guy that we know has a track record of making chicken salad our of chicken s^^t...

Brian Kelly is a solid 3rd choice for me behind Gruden and then Davis. I would definitely take him over Leach.

I dont think so. I believe that Hamilton's job is on the line. He has made alot of people mad and i think he is going to have to get a big name.
