I'm almost 100% sure the guy is not coming back. But I was just wondering whatever happened to the issue of him applying for another year at UT? There was a thread about it awhile back but didn't come to any conclusions.

Well, considering the 19th is the last day to become declare for the draft, I'd say his case was denied.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying he can or cannot come back?

I know it does not completely kill his chances, but how does anyone figure he would apply for another year when he was ACADEMICALLY INELIGIBLE for the bowl game. The kid obviously does not have much interest in the school part of scholar/athlete.

did you ever think that maybe Bret had some sort of mishap, problem, or made a mistake (do you make mistakes?) he is only human....I think it is wrong to say he has no interests in academics when you don't really know what the problem was or what caused the problem!

I heard on sports talk in Knoxville(Jimmy Hyams) say that it was a long shot and this happens all the time. He said that a lot of coaches will try this and 90% of the time it is ruled against the player.

Sorry, but when you and another teammate go after a person with a weapon, that uses up a big mistake card in my book. Also, the guy is a SR. who should be close to graduating and all he had to do to remain eligible was pass 2 classes. School first, sports second... right?????

as far as your first accusation.....were you there? do you know the details of the situation.....your allegation is completely wrong.......and the mishap with grades is resolved....it is so sad that when SOME players make mistakes fans won't let it go......Bret is/was an excellent WR at UT....he made a mistake.....it's a new year....move on...

So far as my accusation goes... there was the video from the surveillance camera in the lobby of the dorm. Last bit on this... as I type... he's in the Hula Bowl. He's gone. Never had a problem with his field performance. Thanks for the effort Bret, good luck in the future, and let's now leave this alone.

who knows!!!!! he did great in the hula bowl......that 2 pt conversion catch was awesome!!!!!!
