I got this PM from a guy on a non-sports message board I frequent. The guy who sent it to me works at the location of the NFL Combine HQ in Indy somewhere. He gets to see all of the guys and bs with them here and there.

I just copy and pasted his PM:
Bret Smith just showed up today (a day late). He came in here dragging ass and looked like the LEAST motivated of anyone I've seen. Do you know anything about this kid? He DID say he wasn't feeling well, but he looked like he didn't belong here. At least that's most peoples first impression. The knuckles on his right hand were all scuffed up too. No skin on them. He looked rough.

Any idea what that is about?

What he had to say about Aaron and Robert:
Sears came in yesterday. Didn't say much, but there really wasn't a chance. It was pretty busy when he came in. Today I saw him walking around with some other linemen. Seemed to be having a good time.

Meachum showed up at the same time as Calvin Johnson, Duane Jarrett, Sidney Rice and a few others. They were all laughin and stuff. I just complimented him on his season and wished him luck. He was pretty happy about that. He was surprised i recognized him without telling me his name first.

He also snapped a cell phone picture of JR (the guy is huge!...and yes, I already knew this) :

They showed Meachem measure in today on NFL Network. He came in at 6'2 and 214 lbs.

Arron Sears also had the longest arms of the OG's there. Scouts like those long arms for pass protection skills. Sears has a Tackles arm, but a Guard's body.

Who drove their train to the combine?

Copy and pasting his answer again:

Those pics are at the Crowne Plaza. The building was the old train shed as part of the Union Station. Hotel and HUGE conference center. All the players stay there and the psych testing, drug testing, player/position coach interviews, and reeboks HQ are held there. Anyways, the trains you see are old Pullman rail cars converted into guest rooms. The second floor (which has the trains) also has the walkway across the street to the RCA Dome where the stuff on the field takes place.

I have to say I didn't expect Meachem to be getting this much love but I still say put a seasoned NFL physical DB on him, watch that, and then tell me what you think.

No doubt Meachem can run like a deer and has (at least 2006) some good hands. What's he going to do when someone steps out and punches him in his mouth every down and rocks him going across the middle.

Wasn't Meach a rodeo guy in high school? I don't think evan a Pro DB will be as tough as a cow. I think his size will also be an advantage if somebody wants to play rough.

fyi- bret is at the combine! he had the flu! he'll be fine! also, it would be nice if folks would stop saying mean things without knowing the details first! plus, we should be proud and glad that UT has THREE WR's who were invited!!!!
here is comment from Robert Meachem I copied and pasted...best wishes to all three of them!!

sorry here is the full quote from Scout.com (r.meachem comment)

12:49 p.m.: Tennessee Wide Receiver Robert Meachem is part of a large contingent of Tennessee Wide Receivers here, and he was asked what it meant to have two teammates here. “Me, Brett Smith and Jayson Swain are all here. We want to bring back Wide Receiver U back to Tennessee, and the only way we were going to do that was with hard work and dedication.”
