Bret Smith eligibility

the fulmer thing about discipline is certainly a well documented debate. personally, i think in a few incidents he was dead on ie: Ontarrio Smith-kicked off, goes on to Oregon-makes all Pac 10 ; Lynn McGruder-DT, kicks off for multiple violations, plays 14 games on Oklahoma's NC team;; Brent Schaefer-needless to say; I believe Billy Williams was also kicked off-GREAT WR for us. Nilo Silvan was kicked off and later found NOT guilty of assaulting a lady friend-I think Phil jumped the gun on him-but I could be wrong- I don't remember the whole story. and then there are the lingering effects of these fine young men: A #1 @$$ hole of all time-Kelley Washington-should have been dismissed. PERIOD. I cannot stand what he did to our program. I will elaborate if prompted; James Banks-given WAY too many chances obviously; Tony McDaniel-should have served time for assault with a deadly weapon-being as strong as he is, his fists qualify; and the list goes on. he has been stern lately with guys like ray henderson(is that right last name-def. lineman) but i think thats as much a part of Cut firing him up as anything-which don't get me wrong, is a good thing.

What did Kelley Washington do warrant getting kicked off the team? Forgo the NFL draft to come back to UT, only to be injured trying to help a team that that was a tremendous disappointment? I'm sure it was all Washington's fault that the team was terrible that year. Nevermind that most of the problems that plagued us that year showed up again in 2005. That must have been Kelley's fault, as well.

I cannot believe a senior of all people... we arent talking about a fresh or soph or even a junior but a SENIOR failed a class... thats rediculous and something about it doesnt seem right to me... but whatever. i for one believe im extremely liberal when it comes to stuff like this but i cannot believe he is gonna get to play. i think its a kick in the mouth to the guys that work there tail off and atleast pass! absolutely rediculous!!!

Another member of the "good ole boy" network that didn't like Kelley because of....well, I'll leave that up to the imagination.

Kelley was one of the hardest working players in practice and the offseason of any player in the Fulmer era. He also produced on the field. He was done in by the good ole boy network that listened too much to ESPN than to one of their Vols.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Bret appeal his grade. I can't believe that as public as this was that a Professor is going to change the grade without a reason. Oh, thats right, lets stick it to our players and keep them from playing their last game.

You are correct. Anyone that wants to blame the shortcomings of the 2002 season on Kelley Washington is delusional.
