Sooner fans were happy when Venables left.

I wish Dan Brooks would come back to UT for a couple of years. He has that DL at Clemson playing very well.

All fine and good, but is there ANY credible info linking Venables to the search?

Any one can start a thread with a coach's name.

We all know that a top D is what WINS Championships.

Watch Venables during a game...His D makes a big play and he's jumping up and down along the sidelines and screaming his head off...THAT is serious passion and excitement from a really great coach that loves football and his players making great plays.

That type of passion and excitement DOES rub off on the players on both sides of the ball and gets them fired up to go out and make more great plays.

Venables also recruits the same areas and the same top players that we recruit so he already knows many of the top recruits.

He has also WON a National Championship over Bama and Clemson is back in the final 4 again this season.

You can bet that every top D player in high school knows who Coach Venables is and when he calls them they'll sit up and pay attention real fast.

Venables is the logical choice for so many reasons and if we hire him as HC and give him all the $$$ he needs to go hire top Coordinators and position coaches that are also top recruiters then Tennessee will be golden for many years to come.

And angry on the sidelines, and that defense shuts down absolutely everybody.

Venebles would be awesome. Morris would be very underwhelming. I highly doubt Venebles would leave a perfect situation in Clempson for a dumpster fire like UT.

Wonder why? Another question is how his players responded to him. Gotta admit that when I watched Frost in that locker room with his players after the game, I was impressed. He had that locker room. After the rumblings about Butch and his time at UT, I'm hoping an improved atmosphere and chemistry will be arriving wth the new coach.

Either one would be a great hire. You get Morris you get a jump on recruiting but Venables is a great DC and those are harder to find.

I want Venables and he reaches out to former Clemson assistant Marion Hobby and asks him to return to the Hill too.

Venables has been my favorite from day one if we couldn’t get Gruden or Chip Kelly. If we get this guy we will all be happy in a year or two. I’m not a gambler but I would put a lot of money on Venables being a great success here.

Huh? A historic top 10-15 program with these resources? I'd say that speaks more than one week with a rogue AD.

One advantage for Venebles to UT is there's a HOF coach setting at the end of the hall to be his Mentor, like Phil had with Doug. Doug was a heck of an umbrella in the beginning so Phil could just coach and get all the glory.
If Venebles ever thought he wants to HC, this would be the perfect situation.

Agree this would be a great situation for him to start head coaching, but the dude has already worked under a couple of HOF coaches. I think PF would just sit back and let go....

Could Venables lure Marion Hobby away from Jacksonville to be a DC? That would bring in some VFL flavor. The key with Venables would be who is going to come run the offense.

If and I think it’s a big if he is willing to coach Tennessee then I think he would a bigger land than Frost would have been.
