Wrap on Venables is he is somewhat thin skinned....

If true, you really think he'd survive here?

I don't see it. You don't coach at a program like Clemson and win a natty with thin skinned coaches.

Well he's doing a stellar job so it's not like he's facing any criticism... Right now.. It was just something I heard though. Probably/hopefully not true.

I know how this is going to sound, but I'm going to pass it on anyways, lol. My buddy has a friend at Clemson, and he's saying that Venables will announce after their game that he's headed to Tennessee. Supposedly this guy is close to Venables son.

Im not saying this is true, and for what it's worth I don't believe it. Just passing it along. Do what you want with this suspect info, haha.

On another note, I would rather have him over Ohio St's DC, if we're going the coordinator route for a HC.

man i hope u right! homerun hire

How is arkansas going to beat us out if we target the same guy? I would like to see him get a shot over some of the other names for sure.

He'll walk in with his National Championship ring and get instant attention from top recruits.

As long as he's given plenty of $$$$ to go hire top coaches/recruiters for his staff he'll be as good a HC hire as most others that haven't Won a Natty.

He's also been recruiting many of the same areas we recruit so he'll already know many of the kids we want.

VFL...GBO!!!

Agreed. Why Pruitt?? He has done ok for what he has had (talent wise). Venables has done a lot with less and can coach up touted dlinemen, something we struggle at. He has been around the Clemson offensive machine long enough to understand how it operates and he coukd get an OC to mimic it here.

Venables > Pruitt

I've heard it said that he's happy a coordinator and thinks Dabo is the best boss in the world

Doubtful. I believe he has stated he would only leave for the RIGHT HC job. Any chance of UT being the RIGHT HC job got pee peed out the window yesterday.

Because our AD and Chancellor are mentally inept and can't make a good decision. They probably couldn't tell you the difference between a Red Shirt and a Gray Shirt recruit.

Their incompetency is what's going to to continue to kill our recruiting class and overall program as well..

It’s something Venables said that he’s entertained off and on throughout his career, going back to when he interviewed at Missouri just after winning his other national title, at Oklahoma in 2000.
But look at the setup where he is: Another raise is expected to take Venables to the precipice of $2 million per season. He says he loves running the many trails in what is one of the more beautiful college communities in the country. His son, Jake, a linebacker, has committed to play for the Tigers. His younger son, Tyler, is a blossoming high school star in the area. His younger daughters are immersed in the local little league scene.
In other words, it’s going to take something uniquely special to pry away Venables. Those close to Venables say that he’s even slow to show interest in eventually replacing Snyder at Kansas State because of how difficult it would be following the coach he calls “the Bear Bryant of Kansas State.”

Venables said he’s tracked peers’ career moves, seeing some regret their decision.
“Now they’re a head coach, making more money than what they were — but they’re totally miserable in their own skin,” Venables said. “I can run out of fingers counting those guys.
“Why would I rock this boat? I know what’s on the other side. It’s a difficult profession. A lot of things have to be just right. And, to me, it’s just right, right now. I have what so many others wish they had.”
