Wow. Talk about no hard feelings?

They still have to pay him a multi million $ buyou. I don't think I would be cursing their mommas either lol

That is offset by whatever they pay him as DC so essentially they get a free DC.

He keeps his name out there for another HC job opportunity next year

Win win for everyone

I don't recall seeing it in college, but has happened a few times in the NFL
.I think the current Broncos DC used to be their HC.
I think something weird like that also happened with the Cards a few years ago.

This has to be a first. Va Tech fires HC Brent Pry. Then hires a new HC in James Franklin. Who then turns around and hires Brent Pry as his new DC

That is actually one of hte more serious moves Virginia Tech has made. They owe him $6m when they fired him. Might as well keep him on staff reuniting with Franklin to run his defense. Franklin's right hand man has been Pry for a long time.

Something very similar going on at Mississippi State. Zach Arnett who was fired for Lebby is now back at MSU as DC.

FSU Staffer hired as DC @ MSU
In fairness. He was never gonna be a long term option for Miss State. He had no business being their coach in the first place. Just unfortunate circumstances.

Didn’t we do something similar with Chaney a few years back? He was OC, then interim HC, then hired again later as OC? I might have that in the wrong order though.

Wasn’t Banks the co-DC at Penn State with Pry?

Just saying, if they’re getting the band back together, go ahead and get the whole band back together.

Zach Arnett is returning to Mississippi State as DC after previously being DC for a few years then HC for 2023. He was thrust into an impossible situation after the Leach passing so that’s a little different imo.

Interesting. Thought had crossed my mind when VT hired Franklin since Pry was his side kick for so long. Thought it may be too odd to actually happen though. Immediately anyways. Can't blame Frankling for lobbying for him though. Possibly the best DC available at the time that Franklin felt comfortable hiring.
