Brent Musberger was just on Finebaum show saying Tennessee didn't want to show all their cards. That they have some big games with great Def Coord watching. That Tennessee got caught being to soft on play calling and got into a hole. It made it difficult to change the game plan in the middle of the game. He also says he still believes Tennessee will be the team to beat in the East. Its good to know not everybody thinks the sky is falling.

Can't stand Brent as an announcer. He's too old and annoying

We didn't want to show too much on offense. When Malone physically abused that freshman corner DeBord freaked out and made sure to never call any more passes to Malone even tho they kept the same corner on him. Don't want teams to know that we'll take advantage of their weak players

I always like to think in the most simplest manner. So here is an example. Imagine going on a first date where the objective is to enjoy the late night fireworks and your argument for not getting to the fireworks show is you didn't want to show all of your cards in case another girl was watching (who you may also like to take to the fireworks show next week). This is simply an erroneous strategy as it will prevent you from ever seeing the fireworks show. Besides, word of mouth, will always create a bigger bang. Most of the fights Mike Tyson won, were won outside of the ring in the mental match before the initial bell every dinged.

Your user name is appropriate after that post.

I will be honest....Musberger's schtick has started getting on my nerves. Seems like he runs things into the ground now. Maybe my patience has just worn out in my old age.

You are thinking in the more simpler manner that is for sure.

I don't buy it.

You look at the weights of the Appy State front seven and think for sure we could just smash them with Hurd. So that was the game plan. No tricks. Smash mouth football. Our OL outweighed them avg of 50 lbs/man.

Turns out, Appy got some bad dudes in that group. They tough. Bunch them were tackling Hurd one-on-one.

At times, looked like a freakin' jail break coming up the middle. Their coaching stuff did a great job.

Thought Richmond was ok on the edge. Wolf ok. Several of the others struggled badly.

Of course, but my point is we should never enter a contest with self-imposed constraints for fear of future retribution. It is a terrible strategy that relies on too many potentially false assumptions.

So did our O-line pretend to get manhandled? I would think we would be able to execute our vanilla game plan without their D-line in the backfield all day.

Our O-line got destroyed most of the time by an undersized App St. D-Line and to be specific it was J. Robertson & Coleman Thomas. Go look at the tape. What kills me is when they always say J. Robertson is our best lineman but I continue to watch him get blowed up and to be honest we didn't go on a winning streak last year and the O-line started playing better was when Robertson got hurt............Think about it.........

You mean the same Musberger that was talkin like App St. had won after they scored in the first quarter? His voice is classic. His analysis during a game can be obnoxious and he seems to never say the names correctly. However, as long as we are on TV I don't care what the announcers say. With 50 games a week on tv, they can't all be winners lol

He actually followed that quote with "I've never been there but based on the way they play football"
:eek:lol:
