As a lobby spectator to the hearing, seeing Tennessee Chancellor Donde Plowman work is pretty impressive. She is clearly a relationship person and works a room well. During breaks she didn’t just go to the separate meeting room Tennessee had. She had casual conversations with NCAA people, Greg Sankey, lawyers, etc. She’s presents herself very well and like everyone else Thursday night when the hearing concluded she was elated to head home.

Finally we have excellent leadership at every level.

She is outstanding!!! Unlike the Florida Gator guy, I have not seen her pick her nose a single time in front of twenty cameras.

The morning after we lost to Virginia in Omaha, sat at next table over from her at breakfast.

She was hungover like the rest of us. My kind of gal!

Go Donde!!

She's great, but she also had every opportunity to tell the NCAA to kick rocks when this all started, and that we were handling this as an internal issue. That's what LSU did with Will Wade when he was caught discussing how much he is paying recruits.

Every move she made was the right move, except that one.

You can't rely on precedent for anything the NCAA does. You can't even depend on them following their own rules like not punishing players for others' sins.

Still don’t think it was handled right. Negotiate a buyout with Pruitt and move on without involving the NCAA

I would be curious to know what the buyout total would be vs what UT has spent in legal fees to navigate this. Though we are operating under the assumption that a buyout would've ended the whole thing and UT would've been no worse for wear. Are we absolutely certain that our self-reporting was of our own doing and not just an attempt to get ahead of something that other programs were going to blow the whistle on us for anyway?

Fair point. And I have no idea honestly. If it was simply to avoid paying him, then it was a horrible decision. NCAA may have already been tipped off, though, for all I know.

She did the right thing by investigating & acknowledging the problems & taking firm action. If the NCAA hammers Tennessee, that’s on them and they should never expect a school to cooperate again.

I hear you, but remember what happened to Missouri. They fully cooperated and got hammered and then North Carolina told them to kick rocks and they got off with no punishment.

It’s a hard call.

The LSU basketball phone calls were incredible too.

I know for a fact that Kirby Smart knew enough several weeks prior to UT deciding to take the action it did. It must have been common knowledge to insiders the way Pruitt's staff went about it so my take is UT did the right thing. I think the final total of level one violations was 19 or 23. I can't recall the the number.

And then the NCAA gets the same phone call Plowman got from the same credible source saying that Pruitt was paying cash to players. Then the NCAA pays Pruitt a visit and he lies to them, a la Pearl. Or tells them the truth. Then what?

And what about the violations, just cover them up and hope the NCAA never finds out?

You think Pruitt as a Bama guy would have kept his mouth shut about violations at UT once he left? What about Ansley, Niedermayer and the rest? You think they would keep their mouths shut once they were sent packing with Pruitt?

Really happy with the leadership currently in place at UT from Pres. Boyd and Chancellor Plowman through AD White and Coach Heupel.

I’d start saying Plowman/White 2024, but I’d like for them to stay right where they are for about 15 years. 😂
Donde is 72 years old…
