Brent Hubbs just said...

This seems like a complete non-story to me. It's Brent Hubbs trying to guess what two guys were talking about, at least as I understand it from what's been said here. What was his reasoning as to why he surmised they were discussing that?

Hamilton and the president of UT were behind the bench yesterday as the game was winding down having some serious discussions, probably about replacing Fulmer.

Oversheep agreed, so it must be factual.

Oversheep agreed, so it must be (factual) financial.

The thing that has always irritated me about how Hamilton is handling this whole Fulmer situation is the way he handled the firing of Buzz Peterson so completely opposite. He had no trouble pulling the trigger to can Buzz, even though the basketball program was not doing all that bad by the old Tennessee basketball standards. However, our football program has fallen exponentially from what it has been through the years, but not only will Hamilton not fire Fulmer, but he gives him a raise and 7 year extension this past offseason. I see no way he can defend firing Buzz Peterson (which was certainly the correct move, in the right hands TN had great potential as a BB school) while Phil Fulmer continues to keep his job.

Peterson was a fool. Tennessee had made the NCAA Tournament the four years before he got here. He never made the field. The only thing I blame Hamilton for in that scenario is not firing that imbecile a year earlier.

No, I agree with you, I don't think there is a single person on this board that would say that Hamilton handled the situation with the basketball team wrong. I'm just saying that if he fired Peterson for his teams playing at a sub-par level, how can he continue to justify keeping Fulmer? I personally think Hamilton's expectaions for FB are MUCH MUCH too low. But I have faith based on the Bruce Pearl hire that if he ever does go looking for a new coach, he'll probably make a good hire.

Hamilton is Fulmer's puppet. Hamilton would not be the AD if it weren't for Fulmer.

Peterson to Hamilton: "Would anyone notice if we cut out early and beat the traffic?"
