By my count we are still at 40. If 37 is the number, 3 more have to leave. Maybe the DSA number got adjusted some or some other work around is found. With the Haas kid having had surgery, i wonder if he might delay till next year. That may not be possible though.Wonder with DSAs how many more we should expect to see leave.
I bet not. We unknowingly sat beside his folks at the Chattanooga scrimmage and you could tell they were very proud of him. When he would make a play they would cheer. As we left I asked if they knew him and they answered, "He's our son." Sad, but hope he can continue to chase his dreams at another quality program. That probably wasn't easy coming from a big ut family. Best of luck
Apparently Ben McKee said the number would be 38-39 this year; not sure how accurate that is but Ben's pretty plugged in when it comes to Tennessee BaseballBy my count we are still at 40. This article seemed spot on unless I missed something. As I understand it, there‘s a one baseball transfer portal that’s in JUNE of each year. During the past year, they had a one-time DSA transfer portal open from 7/7 to 8/5. DSAs had to be designated by 7/7/25, and there’s no official report of how many DSAs TN requested. The number has been rumored to be anywhere from 3 to 5. DSAs don’t count against roster limits for the remainder of their careers—even if they transfer. Thus, TN’s final roster might be 37 or 39 (vs cap of 34) depending on their number of DSAs.Here’s an article I found about the upcoming roster deadline. I don’t know the source, so there’s my caveat. Some folks like @taylorvol may know the ins and outs better than this author.
