Breanna Beal article. 2019 recruit

They do look twice at Tennessee, Tennessee just doesn't play the improper recruiting games that other programs play to land players.

Just like coach Summitt before her, Coach Warlick refuses to promise players or their parents (or anyone associated with them for that matter) whatever they want for them to come to Tennessee.

Which also explains why she hasn't had a massive set of transfers (and she wouldn't have lost one if decisions were made by Diamond and Cooper before Alexa decided to transfer).

Many of you (and I had to realize the damage I may have been causing) don't realize how the comments you make about Holly and her lack of whatever is leading to the horrible recruiting.

If you aren't fond of it (and I'm not saying you in particular) stop supporting until they get someone (if that ever happens) that you prefer.

I agree and to add, We will have no shot at any of these players with Holly at the wheels.
HoopGurlz -- Elite eight movers in 2019 and 2020 women's basketball recruiting rankings

Some of these players decided on their schools as early as their freshman season.

We already have similar players to the players on this list also. The thing Holly has yet to do that other teams do (which has led to a lot of the transfers) is over recruit.

2019 Class
Haley Jones we already have a couple of her type of player (Davis and Burrell).

Owusu-is going to Maryland and committed in her sophomore year (that's her local school).

Oliver-is from Texas and chose a Texas School (Baylor)

Jakia Brown Turner-We already have a couple of her (Westbrook and Zaay Green).

2020 Class

Brink-She is from Oregon and would be a great addition (I like our Oregon pipeline) she is more than likely to stay on the West and you have players already at her position and a player that is better than her that you're still in their Top 7 (Kennedy Brown) so it's too soon to say for her.

Merrit-Texas girl who is more than likely to stay in Texas (Baylor, A&M, or Texas)

Gusters-Another Texas player that is unlikely to leave the state. I like our chances as her and Zaay Green played at the same high school

Goforth-Don't know much about but I am sure she doesn't leave Arkansas now that Mike Neighbors is there!

Furthermore there are 2 players in the 2020 Class that we are high on and they are from the state of Tennessee and both are Top 15 recruits (Have we forgot about Treasure Hunt and Cardosa?)

Y'all Holly bash for all the wrong reasons and it's sickening and ask yourself a question. If you had a daughter who was interested in UT would you want her to come based on how the fans on this board downgrade the coach and her abilities to do anything right.

I do not believe that Tennessee is the only school that plays by the rules. I think that is a lame excuse. Tennessee has had top recruiting classes during Holly’s time as HC. If negative comments on a sports Internet forum actually drive recruits away, it appears that maybe we are being too nice, because we keep getting top recruits. The problem hasn’t been the quality of the recruits we get, the problem is that the results haven’t been there. You can’t blame that on the posters here. And as far as support, I think you can support a team without supporting the coach. You need to go no further than the football team’s recent history to see evidence of that.

I know a lot of folks think like this, but I have to disagree. Tennessee is one of the few major schools that still plays by the rules. You can look at their rosters & last minute flips to see that. But ok, fine.

We have also had recruiting years not be so good (Elzy days of 2016, e.g.).

To me, it is illogical to say you support the team and bash the head of the team. The players don't appreciate it, and neither do the recruits. They say so out of their own mouths and on social media. Did you read Mimi Collins's comments defending Holly? Have you heard Mimi's father Tank speak about how Holly is the one that sat in their living room and whom they trust to coach and also to guide their daughter into adulthood?

Fans are there to support not to tear down.

Your proposed distinction is actually a lot fuzzier in practice than you suggest. When people actively state that they do not want a top recruit to come here because she will be coached by Holly, I suggest that is not supporting the team, rather than just expressing anti-Holly sentiments. When every positive piece of news of the LVs is met with retorts of "what it does it matter, Holly is still coach, wahwahwah...." I suggest that is not supporting the team, rather than just being anti-Holly.

Face it, if we get the top 5 recruits, that means Uconn isn’t getting the top 5 recruits. I don’t think anyone sees that as a bad thing. If we get the top 10, that means that Uconn, ND, Mississippi State, or Louisville didn’t get any of the top 10 recruits. I don’t know of anyone who doesn’t want UT to get the top recruits. The simple fact is that Holly needs to have superior talent to beat a top WCBB team. I think we all hope she can get the superior talent. But it would be nice to go into a game with equal or lesser talent and think we have a chance to win.

When was the last time we beat a team with superior talent. We were ahead of ND by 23 points and lost by 14. I think that says a lot.

Nah, I just wouldn’t want her to go to UT because of the wack ass product that’s trying to pass for basketball. No way in hell would I send my kid until drastic improvement is shown.

Fans are gonna do what fans do—either praise or criticize. I played college ball and what the fans thought had nothing to do with my decision. Important shyt like, oh yeah, winning and losing, style of play and who I’d be playing with were far more important than what’s on some message board. Also, the same rang true for the kids I coached who received scholarships. Fan complaints had ZERO effect on their decisions....wasn’t even mentioned or thought of during any of the processes.

People have an over-inflated sense of self-worth as fans when it comes to recruits. Shyt, them kids ain’t thinking about our azzes. :glare:

Read the board. People have specifically said they don't want to see another top player wasted under Holly. So, face that.

I think sometimes it’s important to make an effort to understand what a poster means. I honestly do not believe that any UT sports fan wants to see the university of Tennessee to miss out on top talent in any sport. I think when someone says that they don’t want to see another quality player wasted under Holly, there are two ways that could get addressed. Either don’t get any quality players, or get a coach that could develop them into a quality team. I think the majority of UT fans would prefer to get a coach that could turn quality players into a quality team. I think we used to have a coach that could do that. I don’t think we have a coach that can do that now. Maybe we can get a coach that can do that in the future.
