Update (10/30): After questioned about his status after 2017 Season, Butch said it is "week-to-week and day-to-day". His discussions with Currie regard "anything and everything". He also stated he still has full support from Currie.

The advantage in allowing Butch to coach out the year was him padding his resume with some wins against lesser opponents. Unfortunately he can't even do that right so allowing him to stay makes him look worse as a coach. Florida dropping the axe definitely put even more pressure on the AD.
