Breaking down the 2008 recruiting class

Rodriguez Wilks ***

Position: WR

Other schools that offered:

•Alabama
•Florida
•Georgia Tech
•Kentucky
•Michigan
•South Carolina

Strengths:
•Hands and concentration
•Speed
•Strength
•Told Meyer to go **** himself
•Resisted Alabama

Weakness:
•Running ability
•Takes a good mug shot

Prediction:
A clone of Robert Meacham and like Meacham will suck for two years, be awesome his third year and leave school. After that no one will hear from him again.

That's the true reason Meyer retired. In all seriousness, Wilks did have a very impressive offer list. Ironically, Meachem is still playing and is fairly productive. And he has a Super Bowl ring.

I also forgot Wilks was recruited as a WR.

Wow. With regards for those who have stayed the course, this looks like we nearly skipped an entire recruiting class. Waggner, Bohannon, Thomas, Poole, Bart are @ all the contribution remaining.

2009 is just as bad:

Jerod Askew - Never sees the field
Bryce Brown - Gone
Mike Edwards - Gone

Eric Gordon - Solid Contributor
James Green - Never made it here
Daniel Hood - Solid Contributor
Janzen Jackson - Gone
Arthur Jeffery - Never sees the field
Greg King - Can't stay healthy
Nigel Mitchell Thornton - Only has had 15 tackles in his career
Darren Myles - Gone
Robert Nelson - Hasn't seen the field
David Oku - Gone
Nyshier Oliver - Hurt
Kevin Revis - Transferred/Gone
Nu'Keese Richardson - Gone
Zach Rogers - Solid Contributor
JerQuari Schofield - Playing some
Rae Sykes - Gone
Marsalis Teague - Solid Contributor
Marlon Walls - Contributes
Toney Williams - Gone

Even look at 2010:
Tyler Bray - Solid contributor
John Brown - Never played a snap
Dave Clark - Never played a snap
Greg Clark - Hasn't played much, redshirted last year.

Raiques Crump - Dooley recruit, contributes
Marcques Dixon - Never played a snap
Channing Fugate - Contributes
Zach Fulton - Contributes
Justin Hunter - Hurt, but solid contributor
Martaze Jackson - Still on team, but not much PT yet
Jawuan James - Solid contributor
Eddrick Loften - May make it campus...someday.
Ted Meline - Gone

Corey Miller - Contributor
Matt Milton - Contributor
Nash Nance - Still on team
Raijion Neal - Contributor
Marques Pair - Played some against Cincy
Michael Palardy - Still on team, but not performing to potential
John Propst - Dooley recruit, contributor
Mychal Rivera- Contributor
Da'Rick Rogers - Contributor
Dontavis Sapp - Contributor
Matt Simms - Back up QB
Jacques Smith - Contributor
James Stone - Contributor
Matt Darr - Contributor

When you look at all that (i know it's all been posted before), you see why our program has done poorly in situations where depth is required. And go through and look at how many of those names that are still here are just bodies that are taking up a scholarship (i.e. Jerod Askew).

However, also notice. Remember, when Dooley came in? First recruits he took, or some of them: John Propst, Dontavis Sapp, Raiques Crump. We all complained, saying we hadn't heard of them. But yet, all three have been contributors in some way shape or form. That's more than I can say for some people.

Also, I know it's still early in the year, but so far, none of Dooley's recruits from this past year have gotten in trouble yet. Only one (Martin) has left. And Da'Rick was the only other one I can think of that Dooley has recruited that had any run-in's with trouble.

Just some thoughts.

you think any of the Dooley haters are hearing 2001 A Space Odyssey and starting to realize the current state of the roster?

Join the club, it was the same way at Bama when Saban took over.

"The NFL draft just ended and for the first time since 1970, Alabama did not have a player selected.
Alabama draft hopefuls included Wallace Gilberry, DJ Hall, Simeon Castille and Keith Brown.
Ole Miss and Mississippi State were the only other SEC schools without a draft pick.
Undrafted players will have the opportunity to sign free agent contracts and try to make teams.
The draft was seven rounds that included 252 picks.
It's impossible to know how close an Alabama player came to being drafted. But Mel Kiper Jr., the longtime NFL draft guru on ESPN, never included an Alabama player in his list of 12 Best Available Players that is updated throughout the draft."

I believe Askew has quit the team or the team quit him or whatever. I don't think he's on scholarship at this point.

Yes 2008 and 2009 are the gaping hole in our roster. Dooley's hit rate is certainly higher then Fulmer's last few classes and Fulmer/Kiffin's one class.
