We are currently sitting 14th with 17 commitments. The first three teams ahead of us have more commitments, and less "4 star players." From the looks of everything with where we stand with certain players and then looking at the rest of the classes and buzz around where they stand, we should finish no lower than 11th on Rivals.

Solid steady classes. Eventually Tennessee will be back in the hunt if this keeps happening. The final years of Fulmer were too up and down. Most of those guys didn't pan out or left the program. Depth problems will be a thing of the past soon.

We may catch up with Miami and A&M also just by looking at the average star ratings.

I thought you were going to list all of our commits by position and talk about how they fill needs and then talk about who else we're targeting to fill out the rest of the class.

I'm a little disappointed.

Agree. We should be in great shape at LB. I love the talent we have brought in with this class. If we end up with O'Brien and Jacobs, that bolsters our group of DTs. However, we still need at least 1 more and probably two more. WRs look great. I would love to pull a surprise on the OL, but Jelks will do just fine. We desperately need Price or Meredith, and we should be fine with the TEs on campus next year. And lastly, I think we need one more safety. Loften is eligible to be here since attending JUCO, but Brent said Dooley and Co. are going to evaluate him again.

Off topic to a former recruit/player...saw where Nick Laimison was lighting it up for UTEP last night.

Still glad we got TB now and JW for the future.

Remember that time when we pulled in the number one prospect? What's he doing now? Just saying, rankings shouldn't have any focus. See Nick Reveiz. Much better career than ole Brownie

Having "No depth problem" will be a problem!! Right now, we can sell playing time to 5* freshmen, once we get depth, we won't be able to do that again.
If you may recall, Miami was loaded with players for years. Then the 5* recruits began to go elsewhere for playing time. So, Miami signed some 4* but mostly 3* players. Once their players graduated or left for the NFL, all Miami had on their team were 3* players with a few 4*'s scattered among them and none of them had any real playing experience. So, Miami began to lose games.
If Hunter had the chance to go to F.S.U. and play immediately or go to U.T. and not crack the line up until his junior season, where do you think he would play???

Let's get to that point then worry about it. Sounds like a good problem to have by the way. It's working well for the LSU's and Bama's of the world.

Rankings are important. Future players look at whats going with schools and this is one way to see that a team is on the rise. Rankings dont mean automatic success but to act like a team with the #1 class isnt going to beat the team with the #50 class most times is just crazy IMO.

I like Nick Reveiz as much as the next guy but how many games did we win while he was on the field?

So what is Nick doing now days? Its funny that stargazzers get bashed on here but the bashers are always quick to celebrate when we move up in the rankings.

I have one thing to say to your argument...Alabama. They are deep and loaded with 5 star and 4 star players and they just keep getting more and more.If you can recruit then you can recruit period.

Since most teams recruit for needs, I really dont think there is much difference between the #1 and #5 classes. I would go as far as saying 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, and 21-25 classes are just about equal.

I'm not a Recruiting expert, but isn't that kind of like playing for the Andrew Luck Lottery in the NFL?

You can only be bad for so long. Sooner or later you have to learn to be on top. I hope that we're learning. It doesn't seem to bother the big boys. You just have to adjust your message.

If a 5 star is worried about PT, we don't need him.

Honestly I view Rivals etc....As nothing much more than excitement for a school. It's a decent way to gauge a player, but all in all the coaches are the ones who have a good feel for the player. Rivals doesn't go and look into the home situation and family. Simply on field play and nothing more. I feel Dooley has a knack for digging deep down and finding that player whose head is on straight......Coker, Washington, Janzen.....should I go on?
