210-215 would be a good start for next year. By his senior year he should probably be around 230-235.

Put him on the beer and strip diet. Or sit him in a cubicle for a few months. That should easily add 25 lbs.

Why do some think that he will only weigh 205-210 by next fall? He is always going to look slender and weigh less than most think because of him being 6'6. Utsports.com, which is UTs website and gets their weights from the coaching staff, has him listed as 6'6 210 already going into this year. I know players loose weight during the season, but he did not loose 20 pounds to 190. He might have lost 5-10 pounds but that would be about all, because he is not a skill player that runs a lot and the coaching staff checks weights often to check for dehydration. Football players also work-out during the week to help combat weight and strength loss. I would say by next fall he should weigh around 220-225. That would give about 10-15 pounds of muscle gain which reasonable for a QB.

250? That's a joke. Joe Flacco is 6'6 235 and he's a pretty good size. Big enough to not get hurt but not fat like Ben. I'd say the max for his career is around 230.

I would venture to guess that he is around 190 right now. He admitted in an interview that he was under 200. The program doesn't mean a thing, my friend.

We have to remember he is a QB. Have you ever noticed the lack of definition in QBs arms. Brian Griese said on TV that NFL teams won't even let QBs do bicep curls. Seems like smooth muscles may be preferable to ripped.
QBs don't perform biceps curls because they are an accessory exercise in a pro footballers power and strength regimen. "Accessory" as in after the regular program of Olympic and power lifts, squats and similar.

That is if the particular NFL team has a decent trainer with an academic background in the subject.

I think we can all agree that a guy who is 6'6 and weighs about 200 pounds on a good day will have a hard time going a whole 3-4 years in the SEC

Nope, don't agree.

..so what should his target weight be?
Wrong question. The question should be how much additional muscle mass should he gain and how should he gain it.

It is the combination of strength, power and nervous system capabilities that will allow him to take hits from many different forces and positions. To absorb force properly when he knows it is coming and, somewhat, when he is blindsided.
