Bray's post practice comments

Some of you simply don't recognize or appreciate the talent that Bray has. I'm not at all suggesting that he is manning like in his behavior and mannerisms, but I assure you this....those of you that are bashing him now, will truly miss him under center in the future. Your expectations are impossible and irrational most of the time. Sorry...jmo!

It's not the coaches fault that Bray is like he is. But, it is the coaches fault that they can't induce the motivation for positive change needed to get Bray out of his lackadaisical attitude.

Bray mentioned the team had been practicing better the last week or so. When asked why that was, he answered by saying, "I don't know. I guess because we wanted to."
This is a problem, and this falls on the coaches. The coaches should demand 100% effort, and if you don't, you don't play!
If you can't coach that way maybe you shouldn't coach! Do you think this crap flies at alabama? I highly doubt it!

Yeah, I do believe much of the blame should be placed on the staff, because if the passion isn't there with them, how do they expect the intensity level in practice and/or games from the players to be high. That being said, Bray and Company (namely Hunter) need to accept responsibility for their own actions and mindsets. They're big boys with broad shoulders ( as Phil once said) and should always be ready to go to work and compete at a high level day in a day out, whether that be on the practice or game field. I hope they get their butts in gear and get ready to finish out the season in a strong fashion. GO VOLS!!

So it's your assertion that when a 20 yr old answers a reporter's question with a smart ass answer, that it's the coach's fault...

Some of you need to back away from the computer and go get a job...and a life

This got the most likes I've ever seen for one post... And I agree too.

A lot of players w/ questionable character played under coach Fulmer. Leonard Little, Albert Haynsworth, Donte Stallworth, Travis Henry, Dwayne Goodrich. But there werent any issues with players giving 100% under him.

Anybody who has been watching any of the games this year knows that Bray is NOT the problem on this team. Sure, he has made a few turnovers a crucial times at the end of games, but, if our D was playing at even half the level we are accustomed to, then Bray and the offense would not have been in those situations. The kid has played his heart out these last few games and all season for the most part. Get off his back.:tease2:

What's tater brays #'s against good defenses(sec)? Wins against good defenses(sec)? Records against defenses with a pulse???

Here is an interesting stat for comparison. Manning was a starter for 3.5 years (+/-). In that whole time, he played about as many ranked SEC teams as UT has the past 2.5 years.

Do you know how many times a ranked Manning led team beat a higher ranked team? 0. Do you know how many times a ranked Manning team lost to a lower ranked, or unranked, team? 2. Iirc Manning lead a ranked Vols team for 37 weeks and never beat a team that was ranked higher. That was also in a much shallower SEC.

Bray is not as good as hyped up to be.
Terrible attitude. Doesn't like to get hit. Not mobile. Stares down his receiver every play. Can't win when it counts. Can't excel against SEC defenses. Only performs well when he wants to.
Someone please disagree and point out where I am wrong. He's been surrounded by weapons and still manages to underachieve. I'm sorry, I forgot about the stellar D of Troy.
Yeah, he has height and arm strength.. But it takes a lot more than that to excel in the NFL.
He could easily be the 2013 Ryan Leaf of the draft.

He's never been coached though.

There are problems with the coaching. It isn't effort in practice.

Bray is Bray's problem. He beats up on weak competition... plays it cool... then chokes against good competition when the game is on the line.
Kind of expecting that aganst Missouri but I hope he finds it.

He's the qb on the best offense in the SEC.

if he gets drafted give it 2-3 yrs and he will be out of a job a total BUST of the league Leaf only lasted about 4 yrs and his career was over cause he couldnt do the job and nobody wanted him...I see Bray going down this route unless he starts taking the game more seriously...hell even Erik Ainge was a damn good QB compared to Bray...btw is he still in the NFL?? last I knew he was a backup QB with the Jets...

Maybe it's just me--but I doubt too many Vol fans care how the team is practicing now.

No, Ainge played for the Jets from 2008 through 2010. He was the 162nd pick of the NFL draft (late 5th round). He never took a snap in an NFL game. He left the Jets after battling substance abuse and injuries. I would not use Ainge as an example of a QB that took the game seriously.

Most NFL draft analysts project Bray to go anywhere from the 2nd to the 5th round if he declares early, and higher if he stays through his senior year.

Bray is better than Ainge, although Ainge was a very good QB for the Vols.

If you are such a scout, then why aren't you getting paid for it?

I will agree with one of your points; "he doesn't like to get hit" Guess what Einstein, 99.9 percent of QBs don't like to be hit. Bray makes his fair share of mistakes, but is an above average college QB.

I can only imagine a QB under Bryant or Neyland or Lombardi making this comment of what their game day status would be.
