Bray needs to learn from Simms

Simms Career Passing at UT...

1645 Total yards

124 of 223 Passing

8TDs 7INTs...

Give the kid a break.. He's our best Option right now.. No he's not the guy I would pick first in Dodgeball.. but he's def not the last..

Don't forget to subtract yards for all the sacks he took due to his snail-like release.

Must be something Simms picked up in the off-season. Last season he led us to 29 yards against Florida, 42 against UAB, 9 against Georgia. (Admittedly, Bray led the stunning 27 against North Carolina.)

I think one thing that's being overlooked in this debate is the fact that the formations that were used on Saturday were very run-friendly.

I think that if they would use the same formations with Bray in at QB, then we would see our running game improve without seeing a huge drop-off in our passing game. Bray will still find his receivers in these more "run-friendly" formations when a pass is called, and it will make the defense have to guess more at what play is coming.

Agreed - I noticed a new run formation that I hadn't seen before that created lots of misdirection. Then, in the 2nd half we go to an I formation and stop being successful with the run again.

We had 2 drives in the second half, both of which came with us being down 3 scores. We couldn't exactly line it up and run every play.

Bray needs to stay far far away from "matman". Bray will be able to read the defense the more he plays, Matman is a bad QB. End of story.

I talked to a former UT player today, ran into him at work. He said that alot of the problems we have running the ball are because Bray isn't making the correct calls at the line for the linemen. It's his job to identify the Mike linebacker and when he picks the wrong lb it throws off the whole blocking scheme. He said that UGA really exposed him by moving their lbs around alot and disguising the Mike. Simms is much better at this and this is why we had more success running the ball Saturday. Just what I heard today, thought it was interesting.

well as someone said in a earlier post most runs with bray as QB he lined up in a shotgun or late handoff...but lets face it simms is better off handing the ball off that or he'll up throwing it to the other team... i mean look at the lsu game first INT from simms was when he tried throwing to rogers when he was on the outside of the defender so there was no way for rogers to even make a move for the ball...most simms throws are right to the other team

OP is right on - haven't seen Sims throw his hand into a Georgia helmet like Bray did. Bray was costing us huge...wish he'd just transfer

I agree. Bray was running scared all game and i saw him intentionally throw his thumb on a uga helmet to get out of the game. When walking off the field, he didnt say its broke. He said im done.

How Simms goes to the line and adjust plays and puts his players in the situation. If he sees we can run he will change to it. Bray does some but often just runs the play.

As soon as Bray becomes as inept at QB as Simms he can take this advice. Until then he should do nothing like Simms.

Bray doesn't need to learn anything from Capt. Clusterf^@%! As a matter of fact, Simms needs to spend a few days working with the d-backs so he can learn how to make an open field tackle. Not like that attempt he made at one the other afternoon. Serious facepalm at OP.
